I'm pretty sure he chose to be independent. I remember he had a lot of exposure at the same time as Sam Smith. Back in the day when Sam made great music, i guess he is kinda getting back to his roots now. I love Jamie because he cares more about the music than actual fame and money.
I've heard this song once before at a party in 2012 and thought it was very catchy. After that I forgot about it completely. Now in 2021 it popped into my mind out of nowhere and went on a mission searching for it and I gotta say, this song aged very well like a good Scotch and have been listening to it for days in a row now. Absolute Talent Mr. Woon! Cheers from the Netherlands
@@goodprince5327 The techniques he chooses to apply to create different feelings and evoke different responses. The different registers he goes through and pacing etc. He's an artist. A genius.
Night air has the strangest flavor Space to breathe and time to savor All that night air has to lend me Till the morning makes me angry In the night air The night air I've acquired a kind of madness Daylight fills my heart with sadness Only silent skies can soothe me Feel that night air flowing through me In the night air The night air I don't need those car crash colors I control the skies above us Close my eyes to make the night fall Comfort of a world revolving I can hear the earth in orbit In the night air The night air I've acquired a taste for silence Darkness fills my heart with calmness And each thought like a thief is driven To steal the night air from the heavens In the night air The night air
I heard this song years ago. Still listening in 2023. Jamie hears our souls. He hears the souls of the planet and sll of creation. He hears my soul. I hope he is still making music.
I've been listening to this song for 9 years , and it still hits me like the first time. Jamie Woon's talent in production and songwriting is so unique
A truly authentic, creative musician and singer. His voice is so easy and natural, it's always a pleasure to listen to. Love the minimalist accompaniment too.
i miss you jamie woon. you have been my favorite artist for the last 10 years. no one will ever take your place of #1. you are an artist of a different dimension. you are spectacular.
you want to know the truth? Shitty marketing. Bad PR Team and or publicists as well as agent, if not even just not having any of these people. Lack of billboard 100 capacity maybe even ability. As well as he doesn't seem special tbh. Still love his music though.
Echo Affliction " Lack of billboard 100 capacity maybe even ability. As well as he doesn't seem special tbh" I agree with the PR stuff, but I disagree with the above. Popularity and being in the billboard 100 is all about appealing to the masses. I think you know what is popular nowadays (poppy, hype, almost predictable even etc.) and that's different than what Jamie Woon delivers which is what I describe as more classy music.
The Echelon I wrote that when I was pretty drunk. I work in the industry, and what I meant to say was exactly what you stated above, the lack of mass appeal. Don't get me wrong Jamie is very talented. But these popularity contests are what make you reach the top resulting on being on the top charts, playlists and receiving consistent media coverage. Approximately 2 years ago I was searching for the next big EDM act someone to kill it in DJ Mag (one of the most rigged bullshit charts in the industry, but it still matters) a multifunctional act, now A&R is all about the Urban market and what the younger demographic is consuming. This industry requires signed acts and branded content to meet margins, we follow trends, if not predict them. Mind you he is signed to PMR a sister co. of UMG there roster includes Disclosure, Jessie Ware and SG Lewis, pretty big acts and some get more attention than others.
I'm a metalhead, but something about this guy is just awesome. I love it. I guess it's just because I need some relaxation after all that constant screaming, lol.
This is one of those songs that sticks with me hard and I need to play a million times in a row to make it sound like a normal song again... and that's tragic.
I sometimes set this to loop overnight. So quietly that it only becomes audible once my ears adjust to the room and the flat being quiet. Wont' say that it's "magical" but it's pretty damn nice. Especially on a night when there's time to appreciate it.
I thought I had commented before. This song was instrumental in the change of the course in my life. 10 Years later it is coming up again for me. I have not for one second forgotten it 🙏🏽
Can't believe it but I had to admit this is a masterpiece. that divine bassline with those vocals being repeated softly by the eerie backing vocals. Add some mindblowing synths and drumrolls and you end up with this. Well done!
Wish there was more music like this. Its what my soul has loved and still loves each time i play it. Every time i loose a phone or it breaks or its stolen.. This is always the first song i download
I never get bored of this song, ever, and I've been listening to it for the past 2 years almost every day. I love everything about it. It describes me too well.
Laptop speakers do not do this song justice, do yourself a favour and invest in a quality pair of headphones, the bassline on this song is dominating, but only a good pair of cans can deliver it smoothly
Chills. Anthem for the nocturnal! I can almost see the forest spirits. A love letter to darkness and those secret whispers buried deep in your nightheart ... for those who come alive under the moonlight among the feathery ferns & fragrant evergreens. 🌲🕷🐛 Love those moths and dewdropped praying mantes. Gorgeous song, ethereal pure voice, sensitively shot video. Keep up the good work. 🌝🌔🌓🌒🌑🌚🌘🌗🌖🌕
Was listening this trough my depression in 2014 and now 2022 and i can say it was such a beautiful song to help me trough my alone walks in the forest but i am grateful i am over my depression and can listen to this song like a trophy 🏆
anyone that knows me knows I can't stand bugs and this video not only made them tolerable but actually beautiful. AGHH THE POWER OF ART! And obviously the song is amazing!
I am a night owl, I always was. Hell, it is 1 in the morning and I just started, I spent mos of my life being an night owl even as a kid. This song really speaks to me, I never get bored by this song. You can tell that he does most of his music at night time and that he is a night owl because man... I never heard someone describe the night time soo good as he does, the lyrics are just on point and poetic. Would like to hear more similar songs, anyone knows any similar one?
+Arianit Haxha High five from another one who feels strongly for this song! And who tends to stay up late. Sounds I know and whose atmosphere I found spontaneaously at least a *little* similar to Night Air: - Craig Armstrong's "Af if to Nothing" album - Portishead' "Dummy" album - parts of Gotye's "Making mirrors" album, p.e. "Don't worry, we'll be watching you" - parts of Eurythmics`"Sweet Dreams" and "Touch" albums, p.e. "This city never sleeps" - the song "Losing sleep" (he, I sense a pattern) by Vangelis - the song "One step too far" by Faithless - the song "Drinking and driving" by Jhene Aiko Many of them lack the gentle club beat Night Air has, though. Checking webpages like allmusic for Jamie and then search for his influences or similar music there might also give you some nice results.
+Arianit Haxha This isn't similar because it's Liquid Drum n Bass, but it's really good and melodic and as a fellow night owl, I relate to it. It's called Night Thought by Kove
firstly heard it in work, fell in love but no one would tell me what is this. took me about 3 hours to find it with the "in the night" words i remembered only. good vibe, worth looking for.
