im a flash/ animate animator and just only recently started doing super basic after effects animations. This just intimidated the hell out of me lol but im determined to learn!
Do you purge projects often? also when chrome browser is open it slows down my computer vastly, and crashes appear. I've changed my Ram to faster and with more Gb and now it doesn't crush at all.
Preach on, Finally, someone who speaks the truth about Motion Design, Rigs, and their limiting ability... Can you please make more stuff, and make the animation available like it was on Hold Frame?
This was awesome. My one big advice is to design everything in Illustrator instead using closed paths and separate all your "animatable" parts into layers. This will import beautifully into AE and convert to shapes no problem.
this was incredible man, is the first video that i seen that shows how to make a animation with different angles in after effects, looks like is traditional but its not. AWESOME WORK
This is definitely faster than frame by frame, at least for me. But I think it also depend on your desired look. Frame by frame gives that cool old school animation style while this, kinda smoother. I been doing frame by frame but seeing this,I like this style more, I'm changing style lol
depends, roughs yeah you could do it in half the running time of the video, tie down , about the same as the realtime, but when you get to clean up no way. and color maybe 3 times as long, so usually you do your roughs, get you're big shape changes/keys, and do a little of both.
In some ways it would be easier to draw it frame by frame, but it's less adjustable. If a client asked you to slow it down or speed it up in certain areas you'd have to do a lot of redrawing. With this I can just adjust keys. Also, if I wanted to extend the animation another few seconds, I could do it way faster than if I wanted to extend it a few seconds hand drawn.
Yea just learned After Effects and it's very complex, though I can manage a few stuff, it's quite frustrating at times. I just hope I can get better with it because you can do so many things with it.
wow when i saw this i thought surely you had to go to photoshop to create some frame by frame motion at least..... but how you animated completely with shapes and vectors is crazy! This method seems so unnatural to traditional animating with strokes, but you did it so well. Really shows how software and techniques shouldn't limit you but just be treated as another tool for artists to experiment with. BIG THANKS for the insight!! I'm gonna try this out!!!!
not an animator (yet?) but I love art and always wondered how people used after effects to animate stuff! This video was a blast to sit through and despite feeling lost most of the time, I still feel informed thank you :^) p.s your art is awesome
I would pay for your Patreon if you uploaded real time workflow for animations, this has helped me more than 1,000 hrs of YT tutorials & Skillshare videos
I did some animation like this... I thought it took too long, but I guess that's how it normally is. BTW - how did you do the guitar perspective? Making one end so big for example... Are you just selecting multiple points and moving them? How do you transform the guitar so quickly? I mean... besides point by point...
I’ve done some simple characters animated with after effects and when I saw the amount of detail in this one I was like: “there’s no way he’ll do it by just putting rotation points and making new shapes in after effects” And then you did. Holy shit.
such an amazing animation and character design, I've always been looking for character animations without rigging and its been so hard, thank you so much for sharing your process !!!
I had to pause the video few times just to make sure the music is from the video and not from me because this is literally my playlist , ps : more than amazing video
Omg your way of animating makes soooo much sense. Been looking at AE a long time but never thought of animating like this. Would have broke my ass with frame by frame instead. But this is so obvious and yet this is the first time I have seen something like this. I see myself trying this out.
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing the process! Can you give us a hint on how long it took you to create the entire process, so I can multiply it by 10 and get the time I‘d need for it?? 😅
This tutorial is a piece of perfection. Aimed for more advanced AE users, you'r nailing the core principles in such an interesting and smart way, and the final result is just crazy good and beautiful. Thanks man!
Hey, great tutorial! Any particular reason you draw your shapes in AE rather than in Illustrator? I'm quite new to character animation and I'm trying to decide what workflow is the best :) Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Arguably it is more work, you need additional software and you still need to adjust all paths in after effects later on. So overall it doesn't make much sense
Good animation as a *After effects* , it's quite nice Every thing is depend on *(Masking & Keyframes) with Position , Scale , Opacity , Ancr Point , Rotation* .. that's it JOB done just need Imagination, Creative Ideas & good concepts ..
I am too emotional to learn charactur Animation. May be In my life. I am having wrong character. Animation is art work. I am not artist because my kid life is reflecting on me.Grew up in asian family make me suck at all.In my test if you find wrong spelling .I apologize because I am thinking what i want to tell you in very short amount of time..
This would be much faster to achieve in grease pencil in blender you can interpolate 3d objects and have them outlined and stylised also you have a real 3d camera and the layer set up far less of a head ache, Ive been using AE for 12 years and Blender about 5 years I wont go back to AE, every thing you see done here blender can do and has substantially more solutions. the result outcome here is fantastic but I like to put the word out there about superior tools.
@@TipsyFX Character design in vector? Sounds really difficult. It would be faster only for these generic/stickman styles. It is faster to draw freely in bitmap and then use it as a reference for the vector.
Always remember we must repent of our sins (sin is transgression The Law Of Yahuah The Father in Heaven. The Law are The Books: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, & Deuteronomy). We must repent of our sins and Have Belief On Yahusha The Messiah. HE Died and Rose three days later so that we can be forgiven of our sins! Come to HIM Today. Much love!
MAN! Use OVERLORD to make all your vector shapes in Illustrator (EASIER) and then send all your shapes to After Effects, you'll save LOOOOOOOOOOOOT of time! ;)
