Awesome review! I have the OG c93s and I have been enjoying them for close to 3yrs. I have no thoughts of upgrading. The mkii you describe sound very close to the original. My favorite aspect of them is the imaging/Soundstage and also the looks of the speaker. They've been a real pleasure. I also got mine on sale for $239. Absolute steal! Just found your channel this week and have really enjoyed your style and dry humor. Very good stuff. Also like your interpretations and your song test selection. I'm in my early 40s so I can relate to your musical sensibilities. Keep it up man!

Got these a few months back, and would have to agree with your assessment. This line of Jamos have always flown under the radar and I don't understand why. They deserve the highest of praise. The clarity and instrument separation is unreal. The thing is to wait a bit after Jamo first releases a line of speakers, because their price usually drops at least $200 about 6 months after... then sells out. I got these for $380, originally around $600 or so? Saw them get as low as $315, just insane. Love your review style. Keep it going!

Man I'm so happy to see you being successful at this process, pushing 7k subs after a few months is pretty impressive, and you've barely had to show any skin at all... I'm wondering what it'll be like in another year when you might not be able to keep up with 10s of thousands of subs and thousands of comments for each vid, it does feel nice to be sub #550ish and watch you grow. Ok, enough ego stroking or whatever, bromance on hold, for now... So I got a pair of these maybe 6 months ago for about $330, liked them alot so I also picked up the matching center channel for about $165, definitely worth every penny but with a few nit picks. Just like you I think they could be a bit better in some areas, and sometimes they're almost too good because they do seem to show every mistake in the mix or the harshness of a crappy recording. They definitely have their good moments when I hear and feel parts of familiar songs that I haven't really heard before. Lately I've only had my halfway decent onkyo reciever to power these (1st world problems) but in a few days I'll have my sprout amp from ps audio and we'll see what they can really do, can't wait!

Nice and I appreciate the kind words. The comments are getting tough to keep up with even now. I really love reading and answering each one right now and it will be kind of sad when I can't keep up with them and still put out content... you noticed I didn't say "good" content...

These are way more refined than the 805's and depending on placement you can get similar bass out of them. Actually the 93's are rated lower. This is definitely a next level speaker over the 805's. 93's more exciting on top.

Hey Randy, love the content man! Just getting into the "higher low end" of audio as far as speakers and receiver go. Currently running an Integra DTR 5.6, Energy CB-20 connoisseur bookshelves and a Klipsch KSW-10 sub in a 2.1 "stereo" set up. I had been running some Polk RT1000i for a while but wanted to cut out the bulk (the Polk towers were big at 55 lbs each) so in came the Energy's and Klipsch. Do you think it's possible to have a more accurate speaker to make one think there is something might be wrong with them? I speak of electric guitar (being played solo) on older rock tracks. All other sounds are clear, crisp and punchy. There is the sound of more of what I can't decipher between a possible speaker problem or a more accurate reproduction of the electric guitar in which I haven't heard before due to lesser quality of speaker? I appreciate any input you or anyone can give. Sorry so wordy... Keep up the great content! The CB-20's came to me in beautiful well cared for condition and sound amazing all around to me, here is the specs if you're interested; www.energy-speakers.com/bookshelf-speakers/?sku=CB-20#specs

I've heard a bit of weirdness in a speaker and for me it was a resonance issue at that frequency. I ran a tone generator and brought it up and down until I could recreate the weirdness. just google tone generator and you should be able to find on online. It would be a place to start at least.

Hey Randy, this is probably a dumb question but when you add a subwoofer to the mix do you turn the bass all the way down on the bookshelves and then adjust the subwoofer or do you get the bookshelves bass where you want it and then add in the sub? Or do yo do something completely different. I am a rookie as you can tell by the question lol

Outstanding review as always. If I were a man of means, I would personally buy and send you every single product that JAM-O sells. They really seem to be a cheap audio friendly company that is constantly making products that punch above their weight. And their products do look GOOD, all of them! Seriously, more JAM-O reviews please! I've heard rumors that they are going to have a new, high-end line called JEL-O, but it's just rumors. I don't know why, but other reviewers call these things YAW-MOES. Probably because these speakers are from Denmark, and even though the Danes speak better English than we do, they just wanted to make fun of all of us non-European English speakers by using that "J" that sounds like a "Y" in Scandanavia and Germany. Not cool. I'm sure everyone in Denmark is playing this video right now, and making fun of that dude in Texas who can't pronounce JAM-O properly. They are probably making memes about it as we speak. Well, the joke will be on them when we announce that Denmark is now the 51st state of the union. Well, I need to go buy three or four expensive amps to test out with my Sony CS5's. Go get some more JAM-O stuff. Even though they are Danish, they seem like they know what they are doing.

Randy, have you ever tried modding your Jamos? I know you did a video about modding the Songs and you were really impressed. Both are on clearance now. I briefly tried the c93 ii and ordered the c91ii to see if they would do essentially what the bigger ones did perhaps with a bit less harshness. Supposedly, the c91ii uses neodymium magnets while the company makes no reference to what the c93ii uses. Will find out for myself this weekend. The smaller units should match well with sub at 80 Hz.

Did you use these with the stock bridge? If yes, which binding posts did you use? Danny from GR Research measured the bridge at 2.7ohms I believe so depending on which set terminals you use actually effects the tonal balance a bit as he showed. Figured it was worth mentioning as that could easily change your opinion of the speaker depending on how you hooked it up and would be worth cutting a couple of 6" speaker cables to replace the bridge to see how you think that sounds. Hopefully one of those suggestions improves the sound for you. From the looks department Jamo is killing it! I wonder if I would like that more than the S803 I own, my guess is no but you never know.

really any sub will work for music in my opinion because I never push it super hard. The sub I used in this is an old polk from about 5 years ago. Was a mid tier one they don't sell anymore. But the inexpensive sony just went back up in price. Emotiva has some great ones and they make great stuff. emotiva.com?aff=9

@@cheapaudioman wow... again, so interesting! i did buy the wharfedales after your recommendation and surprisingly, i like them a lot! they are now used on a second stereo setup and doing a fabulous job. my amp in my bedroom allows to connect two sets of speakers. i've been then able to compare the wharfedales to the revel concerta2 m16 i have and the wharfedales are 90% of the revels... not so textured, or explosive/dynamic as the revels, but i even like them more for certain music genres. revels can be a bit too boomy in the upper low frequency. amazing buy! at 1/5th of the revel's price! that's why i was so curious about the jamos as well! your reviews are great!! enjoying them so much! bravo!

@nc3419
@nc3419 3 года назад
OK...I know these havn't broken in yet but there is alot to like about these speakers but I don't think I will end up keeping them. In comparison to my Triangle Zetas which were essentially the Color standmounts in a cheaper cabinet originally retailed for $500+, smaller than the Jamo C93II but similarly sized woofers, the Jamo C93IIs have greater detail, resolution, focus, texture, and are bigger sounding. I like both as they present music similarly with the Jamos doing it better. That said, while I immediately like the Jamos, over time, a short time, I was getting ear fatique, something I never experienced with any speaker I had in my home environment. Very strange. Compared to the Focal 807Ws, where the Jamos did everything better than the diminutive Triangles, the Focals do just about everything better than the Jamos. Expected given they retailed for $1599. Now, where they were close, the Focals give a bit more detail but the Jamos take the detail they retrieve and resolve it, kind of like a ribbon tweeter but remained more musical than dry. There's a robustness in the sound the Focals give, more visceral, larger sounding (larger speaker), really tight bass but not as warm below but remain smooth even though they are considered a bright speaker. I find the Focals very musical, resolving but not to the nth degree, with good punch and the ability to wrap music around you (maybe not like Randy's recent review of the Elac 2 UB5s?) but they surprise from time to time. While the Focals are a brighter speaker, not warm by any means, I don't get past the threshold of fatique even though from time to time it gets close to that threshold with Rock, related instruments and some types of music. For acoustic and classical it's great. The Jamos are slightly dry but still musical, they fit in-between the Triangles and Focals but closer to the Focals, quite an achievement. It's just, after about 20 minutes, I hooked the Focals back up as there was something about the Jamos giving me fatigue (for lack of a better way of describing it)...I had had enough. I don't think they'd be that way with all music but the fact I noticed it in some music, is notable. Otherwise, these speakers are very competent at their price point. I don't think they are for Rock, and while I don't consider Nick Cave rock, that's what I use because I am very familiar with the albums. Maybe with energetic music, complex music, that brighter side just adds too much for listening? So, what does that all mean? Is there a point where detail and resolution is too much, particularly with tipped up treble? That's a individual thing but musicality and the ability to enjoy listening as long as one wants is important. As far as presenting a more or less visceral performance, the Jamos approach the Focals ability but fall a bit short. The Wharfedale 11.2s never got there in comparison. All of these speakers are hooked up to a Hegel h160, noted for being cooler side of neutral. A warmer amp may work with the Jamos so I will try that next. So many choices, so little time.

Check out the track Deep Deep Feeling from McCartney’s new album (which he made entirely alone and played all instruments. At age 78) I didn’t like the track much at first but it’s really grown on me. BUT a few seconds in the Tom drums: the resonance. it’s like they’re in the room. @@cheapaudioman cool. Lemme know if you think it’s a testing moment Sony sub is here! At first when I hooked it up I found it muddying the mix, but I rolls the crossover as low as it would go (50) and found a sweet spot. (then I looked up the specs on my NHT 2.5 towers, and they supposedly go down the 29, so it made sense). Backed the volume down to where I barely noticed it, and then it really did what I wanted (I have nothing to compare it to, as it is my first sub, and my speakers are really pretty good without them. I often use a Nebula projector in that room (10’ wide wall projection), so I’m looking forward to hear what it adds to my movie experience (just a 2.1 setup, as it’s my audio room, no TV)

Those sound like some interesting speakers. Thanks for the review and thanks for describing the music you listened to. Fwiw a couple songs I like for evaluating speakers: Deep Purple "Child In Time" - When I heard you describe the electronic sounds at the beginning of "More Human Than Human" It made me think of Child In Time right away. Van Halen "Eruption" - If you like rock music this is an obvious choice to hear how speakers handle quick transient guitar sounds particularly in the mid / treble range. Sounds much better on quality speakers vs. a cheap speaker.
