The House Jan. 6 committee conducted a public hearing Thursday to examine what former President Donald Trump was doing for 187 minutes - from when rioters descended on the Capitol to his videotaped statement urging them to go home. "The mob was accomplishing President Trump's purpose, and he did not intervene," said Rep. Adam Kinzinger, one of the committee members leading the hearing. The committee has continued to lay out evidence this summer, showing Trump encouraged his supporters to descend on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, after peddling false claims that the 2020 presidential election was stolen.

Why have so many GOP continued their adoration of Trump? The insurrection was a horrible day, and a sitting President encouraged it and did nothing to stop the violence, for over three hours.. It seems those who were afraid that day, are more interested in power and their careers, that the rule of law, and the Constitution. Why else would they return to Mar a Lago, and court the ex Presidents favor? Deplorable. I admire and appreciate the way the officers fought that day, they are so much more than some of those they were protecting. Thank you Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger for putting Country and Rule of Law first. So many others in the GOP who are still taking the traitor trumps side.

The large corporations I’ve worked at had automatic data backup and built in redundancy. I do not believe for a minute that the data is “gone forever.” At very minimum several people at the SS need to be fired. At most those responsible at the SS must be held legally accountable. This is a very very big deal. Personally, I believe the SS must be eliminated and a new agency created in its place.

The microphones in the actual hearing were fairly directional. The laughter was caught on a separate audio feed to news sources as I recall.

Should be mandatory watching. Wouldnt it be great if ALL television, streaming, everyrhimg just stopped and switched to these hearings played over and over for a few days or a week. At least MORE people will hear this. I want to thank this committee and all of the witnesses for all the courage and hard work to save America. I just want to get this out to everyone.

I am new to the stock market. Every stock that I bought so far, I was out of luck because I bought them when they were expensive. I feel I missed out on all the stock opportunities so far for the tech stocks.I believe having 75K yearly income would be a good investment so I want to plug all my savings into the stock market. put your money in savings and leave it there and spend the interest each year, or put it into some good pieces of real estate, too many people have gone broke in the stock market, my father in law blew 12 million dollars, and also sold his 7 hotels and invested all the money from property and his businesses he'd worked his whole life to build, and then he lost his farm and hundred acres and then he died penniless, his 6 kids he sad he did i all for now have nothing.

I doubt they text using the normal texting app.That would be dangerous as a terrorist group or foreign government could access the texts fairly easily and then know things like travel routes for the President and others they protect. It's a special internal encrypted application. Even the President isn't supposed to use a regular cell phone for this reason.... though Trump broke that protocol all the time and used his personal phone.

Has to be a direct call for violence. When people start saying that it’s implied, it means that they don’t have anything solid to back up their own claims. When something is implied, it’s open to interpretation and it can be interpreted differently depending on the person. It’s a weak argument.

I agree with Liz Cheny that there are many patriots that would stand up and protect our country. There are patriots in both parties that would do the same. Yet it was insane that Trump lied to weaponize his support to start an insurrection. There was no reason to do so. It was all for himself to stay in office. I am glad these hearings were held and information sent over to DOJ for further prosecution.

In addition to the texts are they looking for all the communications on the Social media accounts that were managed by his staff? Some of those companies were not backing up their accounts the same way. For all people especially in different countries because of the way international laws have changed for how people's posts are archived and or saved.

As far as I can remember in my 56 (nearly 57) years of life, I have remembered US Presidents as decisive when confronted with any sort of aggression toward the USA. I cannot, for the life of me, understand #45's inaction - unless he approved of this attempted coup... "...so go home. We love you. You're very special. You've seen what happens, how others are treated, that are so bad and so evil; I know how you feel, but go home and go home in peace..." OK! This isn't something the 1/6 Commission has done (YET) but please, someone with authority on this subject, analyse this semi-coherent (I hesitate to call it a) sentence. The central tenate of this fragment is about the treatment of people that "are so bad and so evil" and goes on to say, "I know how you feel". Is this an unconscious admission of his complicity in these events? These are curious times, and I had not scrutinised this particular sentence until now... IT'S INTERESTING!
