He never lived up to it as a director BUT he has one of the greatest directing debuts ever, for sure. Speed is an exemplary big-budget action blockbuster and a thrill to watch to this day.
An incredible debut film, Twister was a solid follow up but he never peaked again. His other films all look good and have some incredible visuals but the screenplays really let them down.
