This is my cover of one of the fabulous tracks created by Jan Hammer for the iconic 80s TV series "Miami Vice": Crockett's Theme.
To recreate the sound of the guitar as close as possible to the original one, I created a virtual instrument (playing various notes/slides/palm muting/etc. of my Les Paul) and thanks to the synth I was able to play it giving it the electronic effect, and recreate all of them the small pitch bends characteristic of Jan Hammer's legendary guitar.
The bass line having been created with an arpeggio in random mode (on the Jupiter-8), in certain points of the track it can be a little different from the original.
Thanks to my wife's passion for sewing, we decided to try to recreate the "Crockett" style t-shirt and blazer from scratch, with the fabrics we had available at home.

It was really difficult to recreate the track and video of this classic (it took a few months and a lot of energy), but I hope you enjoy my tribute to this classic ;)

Miami Vice is one of my favorite TV shows (I'm an 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s Fanboy), and my Dad loves watching it as well (as he himself grew up in the 80s). Crockett's Theme is probably one if not my most favorite TV show Theme ever. I even have a James 'Sonny' Crockett 80s style outfit, that is almost a 'near' replica of what he would wear in the show. This Cover is almost exactly like the original, It's so good I can't even call it a Cover it should be called a Remaster. THAT, is how good this Cover is. It sounds like it was made by Jan Hammer himself. There aren't enough words in any dictionary to explain how 'PERFECT' this Cover is and how much this song has 'literally' gotten me emotional. Thank you for making such a Great Cover of a Great 80s Song. Also would you consider making a Cover of the Main Theme of Quantum Leap by Mike Post?

I too have always loved this wonderful and unforgettable TV series... an absolute masterpiece from every point of view. I'm glad you have the legendary Crockett outfit!! I´ve watched this now 10 times in a row and I still see things that I didn´t get to appreciate before like the subtle movement of the titles... and the fading in and out, this is so much like it used to be on film... this is oh so well done!!! And then to top that look and feel, the musical performance is top notch... somehow it couldn´t get much better than this. THANK YOU FOR THIS MASTERPIECE!!!

My childhood was 'the 1980s' having been born in 1977 in Scotland, I got to see every episode of Miami Vice which was great, especially the music. These were the happiest years of my life, thanks for returning me back to those precious years.

Same here (except for it being a Sony) as it was on quite late in the UK. B+W TV too. I used to watch it sneakily while I was supposed to be sleeping. Strangely, over the course of all seasons, I went from sneakily watching on a B+W portable, to watching non-sneakily on my first self bought colour TV. Aah, the 80's.

Chi ha guardato tutte le puntate di tutte le stagioni almeno 5 volte, come il sottoscritto, sa di che parlo. I titoli in sovraimpressione, il font, il leggero sfumato. My dear friend, you don't know how sorry I am to know this... it's a terrible thing to lose a family member. I am very close to you and I understand you. Unfortunately, I too experienced this situation with my father a some years ago and it was very hard for me. One of the best memories I have of him is when he gave me my first synth (this Yamaha CS1x) for my birthday in 1998. Both your brother and my father will be close to us and will remain forever in our hearts. I hope happiness and serenity will return soon. I send you and your family a big warm hug from me!

It's one thing to accurately recreate the sound of the original and play it so perfectly but it's really a completely higher level of art form to recreate the look and feel of Miami Vice in the video! The pastel background, the clothing, the way to play the CSX1 over your shoulder and of course the video post production and titles. Just priceless! I consider the 80’s a comfy recliner that you can slip into in this nasty period we’re all enduring right now. It’s warm, because summers were always warmer. Honestly brought a tear to my eye. Music is an amazing medium for time-travel, it can take us back to any point in our lives, in an instance. I was taken straight back to my teenage years. I am astounded by your ability to perfectly recreate music but the videos that accompany these projects so perfectly illustrate how the sound was created and with what instruments, they become more than the sum of their awesome parts.

You should win an Oscar for the Best Cover ever made of this Masterpiece. Tks God I lived the 80's. This decade had something that - even those who didn't born or grow up in the 80's - makes something special and makes always feel nostalgic...Amazing music had been made back then... Incredible job! I was lucky to grow up in Miami during the 70’s and 80’s. What an awesome time that was. Was able to see them filming MV a couple of times.
