o.k. the important fact is his outstanding voice. His voice opened him the world, he has lot of fans everywhere, also in Germany and as an actor at the UFA Filmproduction. My father worked in Babelsberg and met him in the early 30th there.
although i normally hate anything not sung in the original language to hear Jan Kiepura one can accept all. he was simply one of the greatest tenors of all time. Poland's treasure given to the world. thank you, grazie, dziękuję

Le travail consiste à améliorer tout le registre ...KIEPURA avait un HIGHC naturel facile et en usa comme je HIGHC de georges NORE après guerre et un peu avant...mon père qui ne fît pas carrière en raison de la guerre ..Mais avait des highB et highC très faciles et larges de spinto.bien que ne chantant ou ne s' entraînant jamais ..disait par exemple que le highC de CARMEN DS LA FLEUR...était plus aisé que le HIGHB FLAT du minuit chrétien ( NOEL).. Il y a des notes naturelles ( Thill rentre au conservatoire sans avoir pris un court de chant et sans médium ou grave correct...VEZZANI ?? quel part de travail pour des notes naturelles ? Etc... I'd never heard of Jan Kiepura till tonight when I listened to a radio programme on music which mentioned him. I looked him up and found this. I'm glad I did. Excellent voice - and good looking too!
Pucciniego nie można śpiewać, ale przede wszystkim słuchać po niemiecku, bo po prostu się nie da. Jedynie "Czarodziejski flet" lub opery Wagnera po niemiecku brzmią normalnie.

High Cs in Puccini's operas are unique - the way the composer "climbs up" them is one of a kind, much more striking and brilliant than in Verdi's works. Mario Lanza's Nessun dorma i love about everything, but i also love Kiepuras. Nessun dorma Kiepura's is terrific, i have read several times, it should have been all time the best. I think that's possible, he has been in this role so brilliantly, heartbreaking, i love his voice and his great presentation. Others Tenors may sing it differently, but better? I do not think that way.

I didn't know this super singer. Just one of my 3 favorite interpretations with Pav and Del Monaco. Like Wunderlich in the Magic Flute, this is also fresh.

What a wonderful glimpse from the past .He must have been a fine, sincere and committed singer.I could'nt give a stuff about his nationality.It's the performer that counts.The sound reminds me of Schmidt.
Nice. First time I've heard Kiepura, impressive. Also the first time I've heard ND in German. Not an opera buff but I like what I hear. Favourite is Lanza but not an operatic tenor by any means. Will listen for more and thanks for posting
@SHICOFF1 I met his younger son and widow the incomparable Martha Eggert in Zurich late 90's. They had been the Star couple late 20's and 30's. Opera, Operetta. Martha's mother was Jewish from Hungary....formerly Austro Hungarian Empire. The Nazi's said they would look the other way if they stayed but they didn't and fled. Were in Mexico and then crossed into the USA with Marcel Prawy, Austria's most famous musicologist and critic.They did 300 performances of Merry Widow at the Met. No DVD :-(

It's due to audio engineering restriction. He performed it in original key, then during recording it from a record (mean: vinyl disc ) to CD the key was changed because of different play speed. I don't know the exact reason they changed the speed. Old record are purposed to be played at 78rpm, maybe the issue is related to that fact - I'm not sure.
who cares about his nationality ! Music has no nationality, it is coming from the heart and everyone has a heart. Even animals and plants can appreciate music and they do not care about nationality !

Jan Kiepura is singing this aria in German. I know that he sang Turandot at the "Wiener Staatsoper" with great success. Italian opera, performed in German in Naples? Perhaps it's Vienna!?

By saying this is an average performance you disqualify yourself at once. Of course, you don't that because you simply don't know it better. But for all the knowledgeablesout there people like you are a real pain in the neck. Note that I am saying...people like you. There are far too many out there. You said it right: Pavarotti good. Kiepura bad.That's all you know about classical music. And that says it all !! Get yourself a bit more expertise and then come back.

70 lat minęło, a ten tylko o wojnie i o wojnie! Kiepura śpiewał tylko w językach oprawców: w języku napoleońskich oprawców Hiszpanii, w języku piratów i oprawców Irlandii, w języku rzymskich i faszystowskich oprawców ludów Europy , w języku nazistowskich oprawców świata i wreszcie w języku oprawców Ukrainy i okupantów Litwy i Zaolzia.
@@tygrzyk Dwoch Niemcow rozmawialo dość glosno w metrze londynskim i Anglicy nie byli zadowoleni można bylo zauwazyć. Ten jezyk nie kojarzy sie zbyt dobrze nie tylko Polakom po 70 latach od wojny.
