A genious Canada should be so Proud of! I applaud your talent and your overall maturity at a so young age. Dear Jan, I wish you all the best and may God bless you and keep you in His love for all those many years to come.
When I see a new video from you I'm certain to be thrilled to watch it. Jan, do you have a clue how truly rare your talent is today? Thanks to you we can hear what the composers meant for us to hear. I'm witnessing a classical super star rising every time I watch you perform.
Dear Jan: Thank you for all the hard work you've done. All those years of intensive hard labor, all you've sacrificed: your childhood & teens years, for all the millions of hours of practicing so that we can hear these magnificent pieces from the Masters!... THANK YOU !!! THANK YOU !!!! BRAVO !!!!!!!!!!!!!! BRAVO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There isn't a good-enough superlative to describe this performance. Magnificent? No. Much, much more. And the orchestra and conductor are wonderful too.
Well done, Jan. Thank you for this. There is much to say about this performance, but it will be for tomorrows. Truly excellent and unique presentation that will live in hearts for a very long time, indeed.
Jan, this is absolutely breathtaking, impressive!!! Thanks a million for sharing it.!! See you soon, at Valencia (Spain). (We met there at the Palau in March, 2015 and we took a picture together)
What orchestra and who's conducting? I really like this performance! Mendelssohn, Schubert and Mozart all had incredible melodies in their heads and one can always count on them to produce something lovely, and here, Mendelssohn did. Lisiecki did a fine job on this and I appreciate his work, thanks Jan.
Jan, we've been following your career since we first heard you play at the Gananoque theatre. We've seen you twice in Ottawa, once in Kingston and had tickets for your performance in Gan this month on the 22nd. Unfortunately we leave for Europe on that day and had to cancel. We have all your CD's and if it's possible to play the hell out of CD's. we've done so. We'll be listening for many years to come.
I live 4hrs from calgary alberta in east kootenays bc. I have listened to you since you were very young. Your music helps me too not dwell on my poor health due to a rare blood cancer. Thanks so much Jan😃👍❤
My least favorite piano concerto and yet Jan Lisiecki has made it interesting for me! I think it's the way he exquisitely crafts his melodic lines - really amazing!
+solene thierry Tu sais de qui il s'agit? C'est pas le premier pianiste venu loin s'en faut ;)! Ceci dit, Lisiecki est incroyable, 100% de lui dans la musique, sans tricher.
After the Schumann concerto, that in G minor by Mendelssohn is probably my 2nd favourite. Too bad it's so rarely played, although it seems to enjoy a sort of revival of late...
The reason it's seldom played is that it is devilishly difficult and someone able to play it costs a bunch. Complicating the matter is that it's short. For that much money, a symphony board expects a bit more. It's almost my favorite concerto and Lisiecki does a really good job, as does the orchestra.
The concerto is short in length and to find someone able to play it is difficult, They also must be very accomplished and for what it costs to engage such talent, one needs more length to the performance time to make it cost effective. It's a fabulous piece. Someday, friends, listen to the Mendelssohn Piano Quartet No. 1, Op. 1. He wrote it when he was 13 (for Heaven's sake).
