Jan-Ove Waldner is a Swedish former table tennis player. He is often referred to as "the Mozart of table tennis," and is widely regarded as one of the greatest table tennis players of all time. #tabletennis #janovewaldner
This guy had technique, style, finesse, precision, outstanding i.q and was such a force for so many years. He is the GOAT...I don't care about how many titles the Chinese players won, this guy is known worldwide and is not like a robot brick wall like many Chinese players. If you look at countries like Sweden with such a small population..to produce talent like Jan Waldner is outstanding
@@dodoraptor8387 : He beat a lot of them too. It’s why some pros call him the Chinese player killer. I hate how people discredit pros. He is a legend so are great Chinese players like Ma Lin, Liu Guoliang, Kong and Zane. Table tennis is technically the hardest game in my opinion. No disrespect to all pros. Let’s celebrate them for what they have done for the game and fans.
@@anujmchitale one can have his or her own definition of Goat. I think @Matias believes JOW is the Goat because he thinks from the emotional side of his brain. The entire world knows that if you think logically, NOBODY is even closer to Ma Long for the contender of Being the GOAT
@@nishanbhattarai007 If someone actually admits that they consider a player as the GOAT based on their sentimental liking, I understand that. But my question comes in when people won't admit that and still portray someone as the GOAT, even if the numbers say otherwise. Have heard it too many times in TT, F1 and tennis.
Would have been fun seeing Ma Long Vs JoW when both were in there prime. JoW is clearly older then Long so never been a great comparisiom. And also hard to judge players from diffrent eras. I know plainly speculation, but clearly a match worth sitting down and enjoyning. 2 great players in there own right...
Ive noticed that he often plays very close to the table, make the opponent go further and further back. And he often respond a smash with a smash back. Making the opponent afraid to attack. Always putting the opponent in defensive mode.
Exactly. He scared the shit out of is opponents. Imagine when you have done your 5th smash and Waldner still put the ball on the table.... you knew that the next one he will smash back at you and you will lose. Waldner was brilliant. Its like art to see him play.
It’s too bad these sports videos always have to have the shittiest excuses for ”music” droning in the background. The only way to watch them is with muted sound.
Now that the rules and the ball have changed (to favor the Chinese) you will never see another player like Waldner.....he will be the GOAT till the end of time. 🙏
Great video! Very well edited. Jan Ove still is after all those years the most talented player I've seen. His skills are uncomparable. He makes the best players look like amateurs. 🙂
