I have a great respect for the work Jane has done in her life. She’s been exposing and fighting racism longer than many of us have been alive. While I may not agree with every statement she speaks, her life has been dedicated to creating a more perfect union.

Mrs Elliot it's like you are a blessed angel from heaven!!!! Let me take it a little further see black people at the bottom of the evil devil's kingdom already have everlasting life after death in this devil's kingdom yet white folks have to attain this from black folks in honor and respect and understanding of the black struggle to achieve everlasting life after death in this devil's kingdom of death???? See the face of black people are the spirit of Jesus in the struggle,??!!!! So white people and everyone else claiming to hate black people?? Will regret greatly that they were ever born after death comes ?? Yet you and many others want have that to worry about particular if confession with your mouth in the devil's kingdom that we are all sisters and brothers under God even though we be in the devil's kingdom for now???? See Jesus is coming with the black man and woman kingdom of everlasting life when he comes!!!!!! In other words the world would be judged because of the black face by Jesus Christ??!!!! That's why black people are stuck by God at the bottom of the devil's kingdom of death????? I hate black people is folk's telling on themselves to God????

Please join me in refusing to help the US Government perpetuate racism by refusing to answer ‘race’ questions on forms. When I’m asked to define my ‘race’, I say ‘human’. If that isn’t a choice in the options, I don’t answer, I choose ‘other’, or I write in ‘human’. Why doesn’t the government ask the question they really want to know, which is, “What color is your skin?” Ms. Elliott is spot on - there is ONLY ONE RACE - THE HUMAN RACE. I’m grateful for you, Ms. Elliott, and I’m a privileged white!

I noticed that in different states, my race is defined differently. In MD I was Native American, in MI I was not because I was not 1/4 and did not have a tribal certificate and in CA I am. Maybe that has changed, but your “race” shouldn’t change based on which state you are in.

What Ms. Jane is saying that we are all related - that is very true. Jan 25, 2023 - Having research "Do all humans have African DNA" and this is what I have found - Notice that no matter which branch in the tree you start at, if you trace far enough back, it will connect with a branch from an indigenous African population. The fact that all branches converge with African populations is a key piece of genetic evidence supporting the theory that all humans originated in Africa.

I was surprised to find during my own research on my DNA several sources stated even 1% (I, and some cousin matches, have more) was about seven generations back, or 5th great grandparent level. A lot of people would probably be surprised by how close each percentage point they have might be. Given the timing, this would put that great-grandparent into the transatlantic slave trade participation of Portugal on my paternal side. DNA is not always distributed equally, and I have one branch of the family that lists me at 22% (instead of the expected "quarter" of 25%) of another race, even though my maternal grandmother was fully from the country she came from. (This has been confirmed through cousin matches with a higher percentage.) For me, the tricky part is that the Portuguese government took over all record-keeping, documented only what they wanted to, and destroyed everything else. I think it's great that slave descendants of the South have been able to find their roots. I am on that same journey, but having a bit of difficulty.

You can't grow cotton, tobacco, indigo or coffee in Europe. The colonizers brought forced labor into their colonies from Africa precisely because they had skill largely in those areas. This is also true of raising cattle, growing rice, and looming/weaving the cotton into cloth. We can also add the smelting of tensile steel to that list. Book banning is not the real issue. The forced enslavement of skilled Africans via the transatlantic slave trade has never properly been addressed in written form any way.

I am a 5th grade teacher and committed to preventing any racist remarks among my new students this coming school year. I am planning to show the Frontline “A Class Divided,” but am concerned with the use of the n-word since it was filmed at a different time and with all white students. I have no white students in my class and last year a Black student was using sexist and racist language to some Latinas and they were using the n-word to him and I do not want that to recur this year. Any suggestions are welcomed. I did show the Frontline to my 4th graders in the early 90’s and that went well, but I think there is more racism now. I am hoping that showing them what happened in Ms. Elliott’s class and discussing it will help prevent division and help my students see that we are better when we work together and support each other.

The problem is that there is always a problem. Whether we each acknowledge the very real problem of racism or refuse to acknowledge it really does not matter when it comes to actual change and solutions, aka eliminating racism. Everyone in general cares about basic humanitarian needs because that is what we all need to survive. It os actually quite bias to say that white people only care about money, especially when a lot of people whom identify as white don't necessariky even realize or acknowledge what that is actually signaling. People might even go as far as to say they don't care about basic needs, but take away their food, water, and shelter once and than see hiw much they suddenly "care". The problem is we are not all the same and never were, two people can believe the same thing but have completely different perspectives for comoletely valid reasons. The onky way to thrive is to understand the value of every human being for their unique differences not their simularities. So when it comes to racism, it is disqustingly real, and it is a fact that when a light skin child walks down the street alone, they do have more security than a child with dark skin does. But fighting with people who do not believe that reality is true really diesn't go anywhere, because it takes away from the possible questions and than solutions such as "what can we do to make all children, more safe walking down any street?", than people reguardless of whether or not they believe racism exists, focus on actual action that keeps all kids safe, which in turn will decrease the opportunity or enablement of racism. As much as I do believe and value Jane for bringing more attention to the seriousness and danger resulting from generation after generations of Religious extreamiam and white supreamacy, if the focus is not on solutions and effective action, than we all get stuck. So while teaching kids especially, whom are the most dependant upon adults of all humans, a strong focus on critical thought and brainstorming solutions while recognizing diversity, inclusion, democracy, etc.is necessaary, and honestly the most important. I agree History must be taught in k12 BUT at a level that children can process because they do not have the same experience as adults have had. Can teach a kid everything about flying a plane but until they fly it, they really can't understand the full experience. Jane realized the heavy need to help people see a wider perspective when it comes to race, and started in a generation prior to social media where what she was saying was VERY uncommon to heat out of a woman/Light skin person's mouth. Very thankful for the pioneers of activisim and expancive thought! Anyway...thanks for reading my long arse review, mostly unedited, but hey, I ain't gettin' paid! Lol...and what an excellent podcast!..Much love❤❤❤

Oh I thought we were going to talk about the origins of slavery especially black slavery in the United States and in western civilization the beginning of slavery started in Africa where African people African black people enslaved other African black people and then sold off the excess slaves because they had so many of them to Eastern and Portuguese slave traders . So no black person that came to America was enslaved by white people they were already enslaved by other Africans in Africa no free black person was ever enslaved by white people because they were already enslaved by black people in Africa . Because I thought this was a talk about the origins of slavery and no it obviously is not it's just a criticizing white people are Western Civilization for what African nations in African people did . To their own people and I'm not part of right-wing politics I'm a devout liberal and a progressive so there you have it .

The European enlightenment gave pseudo science arguments for racism, white good intelligent and other sub-human. The Catholic Church joined in with a papal bull authorizing slavery, invasion and conversion by force. All based on racism, the unscientific race concept. So, yes slavery is not new but race based slavery was new to reduce people to chattel like animals. Still today using race categories to oppress and exploit here in United States and as foreign policy bias.

@fortyfourandgore9787 People like you find everything and anything offensive when it comes to black people. This is absolutely ridiculous and has to stop. You have no idea what asians go through in those stores. Addressing the black people's irresponsible behavior and lack of accountability is not racism. They are verbally and physically violent with asian children, women and elders. And they portray themselves as a victim, Constantly. For decades. You are the real racist and the problem.

I guess the Evangelical Congregationalist are splitting with the mainstream Evangelical church. First of all, the EC church and school was founded by my grandfather and family. This church has a biracial congregation, politics are forbidden in the church which the church claims it’s strictly about the scriptures, and religious objects are forbidden. The only cross the church bears is a small one embedded in the sandstone brick in the outside wall in the image of a cross. There is one painting in the church of the river where Christ was baptized. Once the name Evangelical was taken off the church, it revitalized itself.
