This isn't canon, tho. Jane isn't the strongest when it comes to close combat but Bella was a newborn (means stronger) during this dream battle and she cannot do both fight and expand her shield. Plus Jane drinks human's blood and Bella doesn't. I mean if you think about it, Jane still deadly and Bella not that much, but her shield is very useful against vampires such as Jane.

Jane's one shortcoming that got her killed in that vision was the fact that she was too reliant on her power. If Jane had been a good close quarter combat fighter along with her ability, she truly would have been unstoppable.

She and her brother reflect the way they died. Before they were turned the were burned alive as humans. her powers reflect the pain she felt in the fire while her brother is the smoke in their lungs.

Actually (officially?), when they were being burned on the stake Jane wanted the others to feel her pain and Alec wanted to feel nothing,,,hence those powers . But it’s a really good theory together with the other explanation

The brother tried ignore/numb himself from the pain, Jane took it and focused her anger on the people that wanted to kill them. After they were turned, Jane could inflict that exact pain she felt while the brother learned to numb all senses (my loose interpretation)

I read that when Jane and Alec were announced “witches” because of their abilities, they were sentenced to burn at the stake - Jane’s power comes from the pain she felt while burning and the fury she had towards the townspeople (hope this helps!)

In my opinion Jane's death was truly the power of the plot, as was Aro and etc, etc, etc. The normal rule of thumb for vampires is that the older the vampire, more strength than the rest of them has, Jane was born 800 years after Christ, which makes her a 1250 year old vampire against vampires under 300...she should have easily gotten out of Alice's grasp. The power of love and friendship according to the scriptwriters. 🤷🏻‍♀️

If Alec and Jane had both stood against Bella at once, she probably would've fallen to them. I think it was the twins' separation that spelled their downfall. Too bad the films didn't give Alec more attention. I really love the angle that the new voices series gave Jane. It sheds a lot more light on Aro's relationship with the twins, too. Jane was as close to a daughter as he'd ever have.

I like Jane & Aleck more than Cullen's... these are real vampires ... not sugary vegetarians. It's a shame that the final Twilight scene was only in Alice's vision. There, for the first time, the Cullen family showed that they are still predators ..I'm sorry, but the idea of the saga was clearly not bad, but in the end it turned out to be some kind of romantic nonsense. And only this episode brightened the atmosphere a little
