I'm just disappointed in Janet - I think all this is not necessary. I also find it incredibly odd for her to blatantly say that about someone when even people in her own family could be mistaken for non black. I just look at Janet side eyed now thats all.

I remember loving social media a little more when I was younger because we basically have everything at our fingertips. But now we're living in an age where misinformation spreads like wildfire, and by the time the truth comes out, people either don't want to believe it and choose not to, or don't believe facts because of all the false information they've already heard. It's actually scary how quickly rumors take the place of facts. This stuff about Kamala has been debunked, but there are people who simply refused to believe the truth and it's sad. It reminds me of what Obama had to deal with when people like Trump said he wasn't born in this country, and people still believe that to this day.

Thank you for being honest Jay Lee. I love your point about how people should be able to critique their faves without throwing them away completely. I've personally never been a huge fan of Janet, although I like some of her music. But it was still disappointing to see that she said these things, and then even when she was faced with the facts, continued to double down an even took back an apology that was made on her behalf. So clearly she meant what she said and it doesn't seem like she's open to other interpretations. But I don't know her so I can't speak for her. That's just how it came across to me.
