I saw Whitney Houston perform this live in 1987 -- hmmm, I didn't think it sounded anything like James Brown at the time there live and in person (cool observation) -- it was good indeed! She also sang this in a medley of Luther Vandross and Anita Baker's popular tracks at that time.

The funny thing about that comment is, Janet has said she wished she could sing like Whitney and here Whitney is covering Janet, so women in the industry can envy one another or love each others craft....and I think that Janet genuinely loved Whitney and Whitney loved and respected Janet as well. Janet and Whitney both are talented beautiful women and they have different styles and so they celebrate their differences. Janet is a singer/dancer/performer and Whitney is a singer/dancer/performer, however, Janet can't sing as well as Whitney and Whitney can't dance as well as Janet - but they are both talented nonetheless in their on areas.

So agree just been having a…conversation with someone about this. Had to ask their age because they both exited simultaneously and they were never compared they both were and are not even really in the same lane. No need to compare or complete.

When you're one of the biggest female artists of all time, there's not a lot of people that can understand or relate to what your life is like. I would think there'd be a connection, an understanding, that these two would share. I'm not surprised they liked each other. I'm sure they, along with Mariah, Madonna and other big female singers of the 80's and 90's could have quite a conversation about their experiences in the music business.

Tiarra Hopkins No, Bobby didn't date Janet & just because he spoke about an "alleged" affair he had with her in his biopic, doesn't mean its true..There are two sides to every story and Janet hasn't spoken about the situation since it came out.
