This is the R. Kelly remix. The original version that was on Janet’s 1993 album “janet.” sounds more like the version that was sampled on Kendrick’s song. Not sure if you’re aware but this song, “That’s The Way Love Goes”, “If”, and “Again” are all from the same album. It’s notable for being the first time Janet was so incredibly open about her sexuality.

It had TWO versions. This and the remix by R Kelly. You Want This also had 2 versions. Then I Get Lonely and Together Again. That lets you see just how big she was to have singles that included remix videos

It had to be 20 years ago and I was home with my girlfriend, watching a movie. Back then they used to have little quiz's during the commercial breaks. This particular time they showed a woman from the waist down, dancing. It was a if you can guess who this is type thing. I glanced up for a second and stupidly said out loud, "Oh , that's Janet Jackson." My Woman looked at me like it better not be. Surely enough after the commercial break they announced, "if you guessed Janet Jackson, you are correct." So then the battle began. ugh!

Yo, Jay. I think you should go check out the studio version of this song and see which one you prefer. I like them both but I vibe more with the studio version, as it’s more stripped down and intimate for the material and mood. Just my opinion. Always enjoy your reactions, homie.

GREAT choice! Both versions is good it depends on your mood. Now you can listen to the original version but in my opinion this one was better. But I do love the original one also. But again, it depends on your mood. The original version is more slower.
My mom was strict about music I could listen to, but I got this album when I was 12 anyway and I’m sure she didn’t realize the songs on it were so sexual 🤣 of course, most of it didn’t make sense to me yet either!
One of m fav songs off the self-entitled album JANET (1993) I bought it when it came out. Played the album continuously. This version is more upbeat than the album version which is more sensual than even this.
I didn't realize until the comments R.Kelly remixed this. Now I hear is signature sound. He literally was fuelling the R&B industry for a period of time where there was no song that he didn't write, produce or feature that was on the radio. From Celine and Whitney, to B2K and Marques Houston. It's sad. He should be close to a billionaire. I'm sorry for what happened to him and how he continued the cycle with others. It's all around bad and so disturbing.

I like the other version and the video for the original version is a bit different in that the other people aren’t in it. This is the R Kelly production but I love the other one better. Not sure why no one has uploaded that since that’s the version that played on tv back then
