NYC 93..... I first heard this on the radio. WBLS and I lost it. This mix was and still is my favorite. That horn was the key to this track...... just my opinion
This actually has 70s soul written all over it. It's interesting that most of the hit songs from the 90s got their heart and soul from the late 70s to early 80s. EX: The foundation of this remix is "Summer Madness (1974)" by Kool and the Gang ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vQSI-rUUYqA.html Or: "Heartbeat" by Taana Gardner (1981) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-URvzDt2sI64.html We have such a rich history. Once we get exposed to it, enlightenment follows.
@I STAN Kim Jong-Un but Can't STAND Trump Love your comment. That's some rich history. And thanks for turning me on to that MJB remix. That Flavour in my Ear was Funky-Smooth!
+TheHalo74 Use to hear the Original on MTV this mix on most of the Urban radio station, The Brothers in the Rhythm Swing yo pant mix, in most of the R&B clubs, the T'N'T freeze mix on rear occasions in R&B clubs, This is what i experienced as a Londoner back in the day.
This song comes on...I get up and dance! Period! Reminds me of summer nights cruising in your car with the windows down and city lights beaming! Niiiiiiiiice!🎶🎵🎙
@I STAN Kim Jong-Un but Can't STAND Trump You ain't never lied. It's because they're using "Summer Madness" by Kool and the Gang. It don't more Quiet Storm/Late Night than that.
You can't help but love the 90s. Most Hip Hop / R&B hits from the 90s get their heart and soul from copying the late 70s to early 80s. See: "Summer Madness (1974)" by Kool and the Gang ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vQSI-rUUYqA.html Or: "Heartbeat (1981)" by Taana Gardner. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-URvzDt2sI64.html But it is STILL the Jam!
It really can't help but be the best remix. The heart and soul comes directly from the best music - the late 70s to the early 80s. See: "Summer Madness (1974)" by Kool and the Gang ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vQSI-rUUYqA.html Or "Heartbeat" by Taana Gardner (1981) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-URvzDt2sI64.html
One of my favorite remixes ever! Radio stations in Philly used to play this version instead of the album version and I fell in love with it! Been looking for this for YEARS! Thanks for posting!!!
well let me tell ya smth. Im a white dude from eastern europe, I got no memories from 93', Ive been born that year. But I enjoy this song just as much as yall. juuust freakin love it
It can't help but to sound that way! This remix is copying a song directly from the general time period when B-boys first began. See "Summer Madness (1974)" by Kool and the Gang ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vQSI-rUUYqA.html Or "Heartbeat (1981)" by Taana Gardner. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-URvzDt2sI64.html But hey, it is STILL the jam!

This really does echo 'The best things in life are free' with it's summery vibe which was the sound back then. The slow jazzy build up and then the mid tempo groove reminds me more of 'The Pressure' or 'Optimistic' from Sounds of Blackness' huge hits in '91. Nearly 30 years ago...it's crazy. All beautiful tracks though from a certain time in dance music that is so sadly missed in today's fractured scene I think.
It's interesting that the Heart and Soul of this remix comes from "Summer Madness (1974)" by Kool and the Gang ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vQSI-rUUYqA.html Or "Heartbeat (1981)" by Taana Gardner ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-URvzDt2sI64.html And of course, the amazing vibe of Sounds of Blackness comes from being produced by the legends, Mr. Terry Lewis and Mr. Jimmy Jam, formerly affiliated with Prince. So that incredible music of the late 70s to early 80s continues to live on.
It can't help but be the best. Look at where it came from: "Summer Madness (1974)" by Kool and the Gang ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vQSI-rUUYqA.html Or "Heartbeat (1981)" by Taana Gardner. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-URvzDt2sI64.html
Sittin' over here Starin' in your face With lust in my eyes Sure don't give a damn and ya Don't know that I've been dreamin' of ya In my fantasies Never once you looked at me Don't even realize that I'm wantin' you To fulfill my needs, think what you want Let your mind free Run free to a place no one dares to How many nights I've laid in bed excited over you I've closed my eyes and thought of us a hundred different ways I've gotten there so many times I wonder how 'bout you Day and night, night and day All I've got to say is If I was your girl, oh, the things I'd do to you I'd make you call out my name, I'd ask who it belongs to If I was your woman, the things I'd do to you But I'm not, so I can't Then I won't But if I was your girl Allow me some time to play with your mind And you'll get there again and again Close your eyes and imagine my body undressed Take your time, 'cause we've got all night, ooh You on the rise as you're touchin' my thighs and Let me know what you like If you like I'll go down, da-down, down, down, da-down, down I'll hold you in my hand and baby Your smooth and shiny Feels so good against my lips, sugar I want you so bad, I can taste your love right now, baby Day and night, night and day All I've got to say is If I was your girl, oh, the things I'd do to you I'd make you call out my name, I'd ask who it belongs to If I was your woman, the things I'd do to you But I'm not, so I can't Then I won't But if I was your girl If I was your girl, oh, the things I'd do to you I'd make you call out my name, I'd ask who it belongs to If I was your woman, the things I'd do to you But I'm not, so I can't Then I won't But if I was your girl I've laid in bed excited over you One hundred different ways I've thought ya Many, many (Day and night, night and day) All I got to say is If I was your girl, oh, the things I'd do to you I'd make you call out my name, I'd ask who it belongs to If I was your woman, the things I'd do to you But I'm not, so I can't Then I won't But if I was your girl If I was your girl, oh, the things I'd do to you I'd make you call out my name, I'd ask who it belongs to If I was your woman, the things I'd do to you But I'm not, so I can't Then I won't But if I was your girl If I was your girl, oh, the things I'd do to you I'd make you call out my name, I'd ask who it belongs to If I was your woman, the things I'd do to you But I'm not, so I can't and I won't but if I was your....
oh man i had this remix back in the 90's and i loved it, i can't say back in the day cuz by back in the day rolls back to the 60's. had a great run, had an awesome time on this earth with music.
EC LaRock knew some good music!!!!!! Him and Butterball...not the mainstream music of now, but when instruments mattered just as much as the vocals and things weren't "chopped and screwed"... Thanks for reminding me of the "good old days"
