JANET JACKSON's emotional performance of "What About" from TONIGHT'S #StateOfTheWorldTour in Houston, Texas will leave you riveted. "This is me" - Janet Jackson #SOTW #JanetJackson #JanetsLegacyMatters
As a woman going through a divorce from a verbally abusive husband (after going through a stressful court trial to get a restraining order against him), this is real, raw emotion. Those who say it's all an act or she did it for the money have no idea how a "loving husband" turns into a disrespectful monster behind closed doors. Stay strong, Janet.
when she said this is me....I knew what she meant I knew exactly about that painful release....I'm so glad it's over J you are free! now Slay like you do!!!!!!!
It hurts my heart to see her break down and cry. I truly understand her pain of having to divorce a man you truly cared about. She's my Sheroe... she's human too...we all go through things....
It's an emotional song already and add her raw emotions to it only intensified the pain. Her brother Randy has said her husband was emotionally abusive, I guess she couldn't hold it in. You're Free now Ms. Jackson ♡
Anish Gole she's going through alot right now divorcing her husband from five years of marriage who she has a son with his basically taking her through the same thing she divorcing him for but worse then he agreed for her to take the baby on tour but I can imagine how things are behind the scenes not judging him but he seems crazy very over protected I bet his on her bumper because he wants her back plus the baby so I know she gotta be going through hell on earth praying for you love🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💪💪💪🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💙💙💙💙💙💙
Dashika Porter if you can't bring yourself together to "judge" an a$$hole like him hat abuses a woman he's intimidate with, I will. I find most middle eastern guys to be savagely abusive. Either verbally, financially and/or physically, but above all, emotionally. I don't know what she was thinking when she laid eyes on that dude.
Anilove1 - How is it okay to make such a generalization about middle eastern guys? After all we've done to fight stereotyping, racism and ignorant generalizations, you make such a horrible comment about hundreds of millions of men with no proof other than you just believe it. Shame on you. I'll tell you the REAL truth. Janet is LYING!!!! She's an actress who can cry on cue since she was a kid. She stayed with her husband long enough to qualify to take the money in the prenup. Same when she was with Jermaine Dupri. She thought he could give her the same success as he had with Mariah and Usher. When she didn't get that success, she dumped him. Give me a break.
Anilove1 Money and in their prenup it said that if she stayed married to him for 5 years she gets 500 million of his money ironically it's 5 years later n now problems??? Gold digger ? What u think ? Even tho I like Janet! Just stating facts u can look it up their prenup
Ultra Talented - Exactly. Her brother is claiming Janet was a prisoner in her own home. In the years they were married, they were out and about everywhere: Fashion shows, parties, shopping, vacations, etc....many times by herself. He threw her a lavish birthday party in L.A. with all her friends. She was away from her husband for months to record "Unbreakable" and then went out on tour for months. If that's being in prison, sign me up. She stayed 5 years, got the baby and the money and left. Her husband wasn't some crazy religious nut from Saudi Arabia. He was an educated retail/fashion mogul raised in London. Let's face it. This is all a stunt for publicity. Miss Jackson isn't exactly selling out her gigs on this tour. Beyonce, Madonna, Taylor, Cher, etc. go out and work hard to promote their projects with interviews and television appearances. She releases a cell phone video from her bed to announce her tour, and that's it. When Madonna and Cher (who are older than Janet) put a tour together, they put on a SHOW. They don't just keep repackaging their hits and medleys with the same tried stuff. She's gotten lazy.
Queen Of pop/R&B/Dance/New jack swing/Industrial pop/Pop rock/House/Soul/Electronic/Latin Pop/Afro-beats/Neo-Soul/Ballad/Funk/Disco. Janet Jackson has really done it all!
She did this song in Anaheim. She cried and said "this is me" but she didn't cry like that. So I know it was hard. When I heard the music start playing I turned to my friend and I was in disbelief because I never thought she would sing this song at all. She started crying before the end of the song and her voice kept breaking. But she said "this is me" very strong, unlike this clip.
She’s working on something. For that purpose I hve inside info. But nobody has thought of this so yeah. Great idea I’ll pass it along and let them know it was ur idea if u don’t mind
Janet has so many great unreleased tracks that she could release a greatest hits album of them, and this would be in the top 3 songs that she never officially released. Trust a Try, Enjoy, and This Body that Loves You are 3 others she should have released.
Agreed! Gotta say my personal favorite B-Sides from each album since Control are 1. "You Can Be Mine", 2. "Lonely", 3. "Where Are You Now", 4."Tonight's the Night"... AFY was the toughest album because she left so many potential hits on that album that weren't singles. So I'll give my 3...5. "Feels So Right", "Trust A Try", and what was supposed to be her 11th #1 Single, "Come On Get Up", 6, "R&B Junkie", 20 Y.O. is right after AFY with the potential singles but I'll leave it to 3 again, 6. "This Body", "Enjoy" and "Do It 2 Me", 7. "Rollercoasters", 8. "Well-Traveled"
KIKI JOHN Men are victims of abuse too. Problem is, our gynocentric, man-hating, feminist society prefers catering to the issues and needs of girls and women, while routinely overlooking/ignoring/pooh-pooing the issues boys and men are plauged with. In case you weren't aware, the male homeless and suicide rate is FAR higher than it is for women, and 40% of the victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault are men. This goes for both gay and straight men.
Loud & clear! Sometimes verbal & emotional abuse can cause more damage than physical. Though a beautiful child came from this union, it's even more heartbreaking knowing that one is tied to the other person for life. There is a God & He sees everything. Much Love Janet & understanding.
When she said “this is me” I resonated with her so much. I just got out of bad relationship. I’ve been abused mentally & physically. I’ve been manipulated & taken advantage off. Growing up, The Velvet Rope was the first album I ever listened too. What About That was one of favorite songs & it just hits differently after going through those things. Praying that whosever in a toxic situation gets out & just know you’re entitled to happiness & love doesn’t require suffering. 🤍🤞🏾
The song is so hard for her to sing but she still does 😥 PTSD is rough. I've seen other performances from 1998 where she held her face like she had just been hit again. Maybe it was for the performance but the memory can make you feel the injuries again (speaking from personal experience)
Her ex husband beating her at every stage of her marriage, i.e. The different shape of the girls body. She had the courage to break the cycle. Her life with him in song.
She said at the end; "This is me".....meaning that domestic violence played a role in her marriage...I know with Rene, because was caught cheating...Not sure if Wissam laid hands on her, more than likely he did.
She left him ,good now her son won't see that shit happen to his Momma!Love you Janet. You are totally doing the right thing!I was with a man that broke my nose ,and pulled me by the hair just to slam my head on floor gave me a concussion! Worst time of my life .So when I seen this brought me back.I started tearing up too cause I know.Thank you Janet for showing me that I am NOT alone.Much love!(I am no longer with him)
It's going to be alright love God got u,I jus read what Randy wrote about this moment she going through it I love u Janet God gets the last word u will come out bigger and better 🙏🙏🙏🙏💜💜💜💜
She made that song during her Velvet Robe album we know but it based on her experiences including her lastest marriage so it's real. This woman was born to be on the staged and spotlight. Her music has a message and meaning. Her last billionaire husband want her to submit to his way of living, his culture, and for her not to be Janet. Last but not least that plus size sister who always dancing with Janet she gets down for real. She don't play around with her dancing.
