You should try Greendot laksa, is a 2.5 plates. 0.5 less cos is vegetarian

The trick to me for Janggut Laksa is to ask for more sambal chilli paste, the portion they give is somehow too little for my spice tolerence, haha. Anyway I think people would always say Queensway's is better, might be just cause of that nostalgia feels, after every trip to Queensway shopping centre, one of the must-dos is to eat their laksa, and getting scolded by the auntie, haha

A double location! Great episode. Sometimes I think queensway one somethings the broth can be abit thin. **knowing how this maybe in the ranking for top 3, and alderic will be back, this comment is just a reminder to ask him to add cockles when comes around (if he does)

This is THE katong laksa since the katong laksa war nonsense started. But through the years with rising costs and what not, quite expected to see size shrinkage, half prawns and all sorts of cost cuttings

IMO, janggut laksa is still the best laksa.. btw I think now only 4 outlets left, with the other 2 at Paya Lebar(the least crowded and lepak) and Chinatown Point.. 🥹 (never been to the amk outlet before)

But despite of no extra cockles, the Queensway one already costs $8. The Guang Fa and Sungei Road cost cheaper? Could you take into consideration the price to ingredients ratio as well in your future assessments ;)

the jangut laksa at queensway is what i call a business in bad faith... they too sell chicken cutlet with rice and charges an exorbitant amount of money for GRAVY. what a cash grab

ehhhh personally, I wouldn't want it to be consistent with the fish cake. maybe it's to fit into the spoon easier but even that is kinda weak in my opinion.

Tried only 3 outlets only the Roxy Square & Queensway didnt notice quality diff between the 2 but tried the one at bartley/braddell? the quality is a lot more sad and not worth trying, and empty af

I'm actually looking forward more to seeing which 2-platers you're dropping to 1-plate and why over the 3-platers. I'm not fond of heavy belachan, so I think Sungei Road will likely win for me. I might drop by it this week to compare it to my more regular laksa place and see how they compare.

Actually you could order otah as an add on... and spam their samba chili because it is definitely not spicy. (Roxy pricing seems to be different from Queensway) On a side note would you consider giving vegetarian laksa a shot? Bodhi Deli 菩提齋 in fortune centre (bugis)

hmmm so I tried Sungei Road Laksa just over the weekend and concluded that my preferred go to is Roxy's Laksa.....Sungei road didn't have prawns and I felt that the broth was a little jerlak to me whereas the Roxy one had me going for more one spoon after another.....again......taste is subjective.....

You need to try Granny Q Laksa in Penang. It's not penang asam laksa style even though its in penang. they were actually in Singapore for a short while but closed temporarily (they say they're still available for corporate events though). Malaysia trip for a bonus round?

@@andyng5321 it’s alright. Actually, there is one laksa in AMK that was solid like 25 years ago. Too bad the woman retired. I usually skip JC to have laksa. I can’t remember the name already. Fantastic. Of all the laksas he covered, I don’t that laksa can be bested. Sungei is ok only. I really can’t get this laksa. It taste good at times but not so at times. Janggut, George, East Coast laksa, the plus size lady laksa, tried them all. Hmm …

Bro, u havnt try Marsiling Mall Ye Lai Xiang. $4.50 eat till full full, $5.50 got prawn, egg and cockles all in, i cant even finish at time.....crazy value and damn nice too. Featured by last time Gurmit's lost food places before. But it belongs to the more orangey kind rather than the more yellowish lemak kind. But dont add too much chilli, or it will be abit salty.

@@amoslee9658 I tried out Wei Yi laksa 1130h to 1145h (reached there around this time) reading your post 1030h. Wei Yi’s “laksa” would be more accurately described as “curry mee”. Quite good 咖喱面 though.

If you think the laksa at Janggut was great, wait till you try their curry chicken with the sambal. THAT is truly exceptional. Great job on the series so far!
