I tried to find full version of Summertime from that concert, but unfortunately i failed. Janis Joplin performing "Summertime" and "Ball and Chain" at concert in Frankfurt, Germany (1969)
I'm 63 and it makes me sad she died of a drug overdose so soon. They must not have had narcan in those days but there will never ever be another Janis not even simular. I've heard sing like her but they don't have her soul which she put into her songs.
I'm 43. Janis Joplin is definitely my favourite female singer. You can't beat Janis. It would be nice to think all ages will forever listen to her music.
to me she was the greatest singer ever! she is not playing.she is just her self.you can see her soul in every minute.so real,so clear...makes me cry every time i see her.We lost a Godness.
I'm glad I was around in those days ...sad to have lived through these news: Jimi Hendrix :September 18, 1970 Janis Joplin :October 4, 1970 Jim Morrison : July 3, 1971 All within 10 months.
Love the guitar lines. Her singing was so raw and deep there are no words to describe it. Beyond soulful beyond awesome that's right and out of this world!
Who else is putting out that emotion, passion, and feeling today she and Etta my blues gals. I listened to her before, during and after getting back from nam, truly one real blues singer.
Legends never die... They leave themselves to escape ...death isn't final... The legacy you establish carries your voice thru out the universe forever... Love u janis
She was beautiful and so intuned with her music. I have learned to disregard all of the artist's personal issues. I learned just to love the voice, music, and craft !
I get some flack appreciating the sound from some less than upstanding citizens. I justify it by not giving money to anything those ppl are represented by, but it's a case by case basis. I have no guilt for loving (almost) everything Joplin. She was a treat that understood blues and fit so well. RIP lovely woman.
Never again will the world of music see such a remarkable talent, the soul and depth Janis put into her music is just over welling. Was lucky enough to see Janis live in Concert in Jan.'69, it's a concert I'll never forget. I was just devastated when Janis died some eight months later from a overdose.
You are so lucky and blessed to have heard her live....feel the power of her voice...see with your eyes, the effect she had and was...and still is.🙏 Wow!!
So effin pure! Gods, these are the days which layed the stones of your life right now.. Janis and those singing gods from 69 that made our life ,like it is now... ❤️
She trulysangfrom the depths of her soul! One of a kind nobody could ever take her place or remake her songs no match for Janis she had a special gift and she was not appreciated enough by people! She got used God rested her soul! ❤️✝️☮️
One of the greatest songs ever sung-by-an artist who left us far too young. Pearl-my-girl-you rest in peace up there-'cause-down here-YOU-WILL-FOR-EVER-ROCK!
Hey I'm 54 as well when I think it's exactly same as you there was never one before her never one after her she wore her 💓 on the sleeve and kudos to the band
i was probably 10 when She passed, not old enough to appreciate this great music certainly. thank god i have older brothers with great taste in music. thanks Mort, Ron and especially Dennis Berry without whom i would no doubt be listening to shit!
this song always reminds me of sitting on the dock of the bay in California, and chilling those hot summer time blues away..... she's truly the greatest.... ( quotes... of her , come to California and I'll buy everyone a beer ... come to California:-).. she puts every female singer today .. to shame . .. she had so much emotion , heart... and was just her. never tried to be anything differently ..
damn at the beginning i was like: "pls show the guitarist" and then she said to the camera to film the guitarist i was like "omg thank you Janis i love u"
Summertime, time, time Child, the living's easy Fish are jumping out And the cotton, Lord Cotton's high, Lord so high Your daddy's rich And your ma is so good-looking, baby She's a-looking good now Hush, baby, baby, baby, baby now No, no, no, no, no, no, no Don't you cry, don't you cry One of these mornings You're gonna rise, rise up singing You're gonna spread your wings, child And take, take to the sky Lord, the sky But until that morning Honey, n-n-nothing's going to harm ya No, no, no no, no no, no... Don't you cry, cry
me deja cautivado que manera de dar todo en el escenario te toca el alma y estas actuaciones son un tesoro de la existencia de una mujer exepcional e inmortal te amo Janis
Thank you for posting this. I had this live version of Summertime on the Ultimate Janis Joplin since around '98 but never knew which concert it came from. Lovely to see the footage.
My wife hated Janis. She said she couldn't sing. She just screamed. Tried to explain it to her but my Mississippi born and raised wife just didn't "get" the blues. She didn't understand how Janis was laying out her soul on every song she sang.
