It was this song by Janis that caused me to take God for real and get serious about my relationship with Him. This song literally did change my life so it’s wonderful to hear you say she’s got the Holy Ghost up in her. So true! Thank you for reacting to this song.

IMO God worked Janis all of her short life, so she would be immortal through her music. JJ could be nothing else but a gift from God. I first heard JJ on the radio, then I listened to her on vinyl, 8 track, cassette tape and CD, now digital! I've been lucky to have been born when I was, thank you Load! RIP JJ

Janis Joplin didn't write songs (well, except for 1 obscure). Janis sang this superbly, but it was written by Nick Gravenites of the band Electric Flag. This is my favorite Joplin song.

Janis had a really good friend/ song writer named Nick Gravinites and HE WROTE this song for her among others. But Janis did write about 20 great songs out there on her albums. Janis story is an amazing trip..you gotta read Buried Alive by Myra Friedman.. Janis was the first female Rock Star of her generation..( 1960's music scene SF..).
