Mansa Dianké Waly Sané, real name Dianké Waly Sané born in Pathiana Kabendu, died in the battle of Kansala, May 13, 1867, is a warrior and the last ruler of Gaabu from 1845 to 1867.
Originally from the Sané family of a matrilineal society: to be nianthio (noble) one had to have a nianthio mother to hope to be sovereign. He settled in the capital Kansala. His reign is a high point in the history of Kaabu, his resistance to the penetration of Fulani Muslims and the war between Kaabunké and Fulani for nearly 30 years ended in the Battle of Kansala in 1867.
