Please be mindful that we will pause (we prefer to react in the moment & to avoid copyright strike), we will react with enthusiasm, smiles, tears, conversation, exchanged looks and air-instruments. The Swedish guitar player Janne Schaffer is very famous and known as a legend here in Sweden. For those of you who haven't yet discovered him and his fantastic work, there are many hours of pleasure to look forward to. He was born in 1945 and is still practicing his music live. You must absolutely google on him!

Some people in Germany know him too. He also played as a Studio Musician on several ABBA tunes, right?
@ann-kathrineriksson7386
@ann-kathrineriksson7386 Год назад
@@theheepster Yes that's right, his guitar can be heard on about half of ABBA's one hundred recordings.

How would you compare his popularity to Roine Stolt ?
@ann-kathrineriksson7386
@ann-kathrineriksson7386 Год назад
@@tomhill9445 Since I only know Roine Stolt by name I cannot compare the two of them. But I understand that he is also a good guitar player although today maybe not as active as Janne Schaffer.

He also had a long collaboration with the Swedish composer, keyboardist and flutist Björn Json Lindh. Lindh played in a flutterstyle much similar to Ian Anderson in Jethro Tull. They did music in a progressive/jazzfusion style. They also collaborated with the Swedish progressive rock band Isildurs Bane. It is Lindh on the song Ramsa. Schaffer also did some jamming with the progressive rock trio Quatermass, featuring John Gustafson (Ian Gillan band), Pete Robinson (Brand X) and Mick Underwood.

I have this album and the album after it. On the first song, "Bromma Struttin'", he uses a talk box. Another Scandinavian guitarist I checked out around that time was Jukka Tolonen from Finland. A better known guitarist from Norway is Terje Rypdal, who has albums out on ECM with Jack DeJonnette and bassist Miroslav Vitous (W.Report).

If you're interested in Norse guitarists I could recommend another great one from the time: George "Jojje" Wadenius who caused some fuzz here in Sweden when he joined the then established and now very well kniwn American band Blood, Sweat & Tears and he was later in the Saturday Night Live Band quite some years as well. Before all that he was e.g. a member of the Swedish prog fusion band Made in Sweden - highly recommend!

Awesomeness! A two for Thursday 😱 what a deal. So excited you liked his work. RAMSA was a great 2nd selection helps to advocate for his range, his skill as a musician and as a composer. The track I originally intended to request is called “It’s Never to Late” off of the “Earmeal” Lp. Back in the day I was a respectable bass player and I convinced my band to cover “It’s Never To Late”. I played the helll out his early albums I’ve been poking around listening to some more f his more current material. 🤔 so far prefer the older material. As to ABBA, I’ve never owned any, and I casually change the radio station when it’s on. No hard feelings. 😱 Mr. Schaffer however is a beast. I will try my luck at sponsoring a Janne Schaffer marathon. I hope others are equally excited. If you want to differentiate me from Great Scott and Cincinnati Scott and other Scott’s I will change my call sign to SCOTTCHINO. 🧔🏼‍♂️

Eddie Jobson uses some VERY eclectic (and electric) Violins in "UK", checkout his solo from LIVE footage from their reunion shows - pretty wild stuff. And then there is "Mark Wood" and his violins that he's developed.
