I literally said the same thing when I was watching the match highlights a few days back 😂 crazy how poorly that aged. Reminds me of when Nadal hit a drop shot while down 2 sets 2-3 0-40 against Medvedev at AO2022, and the commentator basically said how the match was over and how the drop shot was the only play that worked for Nadal lol. Commentator curse

Agli addetti ai lavori consiglierei di PROVARE AD INDAGARE SUL PERCORSO DI SINNER AGLI AUSTRALIAN OPEN...fra non molto confesserà,proprio ad esempio come fece Armstrong (seppur per altri motivi)...vi dò un'aiutino : nei primi turni,non potendo sbrigare la pratica in fretta causa avversari non disposti a fare le statuine,ha avuto la "fortuna" di veder eliminati Alcaraz chissà per quale motivo,ma soprattutto in semifinale (dove non dico che doveva perdere 3-0) dove il buon Nole,davvero un grande "amico" del rosso,l'ha fatto arrivare più fresco alla finale,e non solo per esserci...3-2 era più bello!!! To me, the most visible change from Sinner is his willingness to hit backhand down the line. He always had this shot, but he used to hit 99% of his backhand cross court. Hitting down the line either is an outright winner, or makes the next shot a winner. I am glad that Sinner now hits this shot way more often. ❤❤

That’s a good point. Theres a lot of changes to Sinner’s game right now though. The serve has gotten so much better than before which I think is the most important one.

Not always.. If you paid attention, Sinner stopped doing that from the second half of the 2nd set and he started again in the fifth. That's because he was pressured all the time, and in this case the change down the line is weak and opens up for the cross court forehand. I don't know how many winners meddy made cross court fh, or how many rallies he switched on his favor due to a weak change down the line. Sinner won the 3rd and 4th by playing every point, keeping and winning most of the exchanges on the backhand cross court side, trying to hit as deep as possible. He knew meddy would run out of energies. 5th set he had more legs and confidence, so he could do his game fully. Medvedev was done by then.

A new era has started....Sinner and Alcaraz will start to dominate tennis in the next 2 years. You will have Mevdeved, Rublev, Rune hanging in there in the top 10 and watch out for Shelton, he has a ton of potential. Maybe a new player like Fils could also get in there, but looks like Alcaraz and Sinner will dominate for the next decade overall.

The selection seems pretty damn random to me too, feel like Sinner’s won better points than most of those in pretty much every match and especially in the later rounds.

1. At 5:29 so nice to see Rocket Rod Laver in the stands! You have wonder what he thinks of tennis' development and changes over the years. 2. Sinner is inaccurately named. He's more like a Saint on the court! 3. I watched an interview in Italian with him. It's almost like it's his native language! 4. i am apologetic to point this out but I've never seen Rod Laver's face like that before, even after such a crazy rally he was not smiling but whenever he came to a big three's final he always looked like he was having a ball.🥲
