Your review is awaiting approval No way this chipper can get five stars. I’ve used it for quite a few years and I’m giving it honest and professional review. The very first day I used it tipped over on the slightest little bump on a very slight incline. Electric start and emergency stop all quit working has never worked again. The exhaust shoot is poorly designed and clogs very easily. Privet and azalea are its worst enemy. The exhaust chute should have a hinge so it can be easily unclogged and not have to unbolt the entire unit off of the base. Now I only put two bolts in it instead of the four to hold it on because I have to take the chute off so often. I agree with other reviewers that it does feed well and it chips well but, it constantly clogs up, what good is it. I’ve had this machine for several years now and I use it on occasions. It has many design flaws that should be addressed. I wish I could give it five stars because it does chip wood very very well. But it loves to clog up. I have a RU-vid video of it running and all of the limbs and branches that I am throwing in it are dead oak limbs. It just eats them up. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bLlTqgc6OqY.htmlsi=tyDJPZ_HxI1uur9B If you are just feeding straight branches no problem but once it gets into bushy material better have your socket set ready. Did a job today for a lady. She really wanted the wood chips. Cut back some very large azaleas for her. Needless to say had to take the exhaust shoot off and send the chips flying everywhere in every direction just to get the job completed wood chips scattered everywhere 40 ft up in trees and 30 and 40 ft in every direction not pleased and neither was the customer. Had a huge mess to clean up afterwards and no wood chips for the customer. I had to get on her roof and clean chip from the roof and gutters. Thankfully she was understanding and was glad to have a job completed, don’t know how because I wasn’t happy. Completed the job and got paid and now I’m very much considering selling it and just doing away with using a chipper in my business. After owning this machine for several years and having a love-hate relationship with it. My time has become too valuable to mess around anymore with the constant issues of it clogging. The Kohler power plant is a great engine and runs good plenty of power for the size of the chipper. The width of the machine could be a bit wider and it would still fit through gates and doors, but it is entirely too narrow and to top heavy even to be safe. It just wants to flop over. It’s kind of disheartening to see you’re almost $3,000 machine laying on its side. And rather embarrassing when you’re at our customers property trying to upright your machine laying on its side, or wasting time digging ground up pulp out of the chipper drum because it clogged up from a couple tiny little toothpick type twigs. Part of that problem is that it does feed so well it pulls the small stuff through so fast that it’s not getting cut small enough and it’s clogging it up. The main problem comes from the poor design of the exhaust chute. The pivoting area has a lip on the inside and it catches the small material and bird nests. Making that design feature useless. It has served me but I won’t say well. I’m sorry Jansen for this review. I hope it helps you guys revamp your machine and make it better. I was really optimistic about adding this tool into my arsenal but after years of cleaning this thing out that optimism is out the window. I hope this review helps other potential buyers to make a more informed decision. And I hope that my video that thousands and thousands of people have watched already didn’t give them a false impression. That this was the machine for them.

Just ordered the same unit and waiting for the shipper to deliver it. I would like to see you do a video of maintenance on it like adjusting the knife bed and belts. The first thing I'll do with mine is take it down to nuts and bolts and put it back together so I know every part and to make sure nothing is loose in it and learn it.👍🇺🇸

I've read a number of complaints about the chip size. Not consistent. Oft times overly large. What's been your experience. I had a DR unit that produced consistently small chips between 3/8 and 1/2 squares, suitable for making pellets, mulching, or just spreading as a ground cover.

Check the clearance between the drum knife and bed knife. More clearance between the two tends to make a bigger chip.

Debating this vs a Yard Beast brand out of Florida..Yard Beast looks better built with better steel but is higher priced and is disc style vs drum..Heard the Jansen was hard to setup outta the box the belt and knife etc...One guy says his exploded inside the knife and damaged a bunch of componets..

Yeah na. The one you are looking at are toys compared to this one. They do make bigger and much larger units expensive as well but if you're looking for this for your own personal yard work it'll handle just about anything you can throw at it. Set it up right and it'll work fine. Privet bush has been the only thing to clog mine up. Probably my fault though.Stuff too much in it at once. Sometimes you can get carried away it works so good for being so small.

Also I've used the disc style chippers and you have to push the stick in and it will beat your hands to death. This one for the most part you place it in the hopper and it'll mostly feed itself.

Have you tried green pine limbs with the needles on them. Wondering if it clogs up the discharge chute.

The only thing that I've found to clog it up has been privet

No I would not. It likes to clog up on small bushy material. I just recently wrote a review on the Jansen website check it out.

There's no self-charging when the motor is on, so it's probably the battery.
