January 1985 KING (Seattle) Sign-Off 

You have no idea of the meaning of this signoff to me. When I first came to Seattle from Philadelphia in 1976 (right after college) there was an initial period where I really didn't know anyone - and I was 3,000 miles way from all I had ever known. I would watch TV until sign off (didn't have cable - if it was even available) and this particular sign off - the setting of the Doxology with the nature photography - really impacted me and comforted me in deep ways. I always thought the arrangement was deeply moving (I'm a professional singer). Things changed quickly, though and I made life-long friends who I keep in contact with and still visit when I can (Seattle's still home to me even though I was only there 9 years - although it sure has changed a lot in 40 years!). It's amazing to be able to see this after all these years and still feel the emotional resonance. Thank you so much for posting.

I remember as a kid always being so excited to be up late enough to see one of the few TV stations we had before cable sign-off.

Always loved this sign-off for being a bit different from what you typically see.

The clip of the flag waving at the end of the SSB was also used by WPIX in New York.

The “5” in the Five-Star Movie looks to have been used by WTVF in Nashville.
