They even reduced the Xenostones from 1500 to 1000 from the ranking rewards to compensate the increase value from the completion rewards ... "Better" rewards they said x)

I bet they intendente the new cow gear to be the vortex abilities and then a higherup came and said we cant do that. Give an old unit that vertex thing and call it a day
They either needed to give Vertex abilities to more characters or do an NVA that could bridge the initial pains of this new system, like 5* Elena was when CoW first came out. To only do one new unit AND one old unit and to give that old unit a painfully weak ability shows they didn't quite plan this out past "we need to make this harder."
CoW is already sorta annoying with the previous botches like the prismatic wave dragon and anthemoessa double immunity removal, this new mode just seems very limiting towards newer player, which is very unhealthy in long term as it demands needlessly newer units. In my opinion CoW is best when its difficult but still could be done using even older CoW units if you creative enough, as the strategy building more interesting, this new mode tho shows that its increasingly turning into Dark Vision as in if you want the higher ranks you need a very specific team where each unit cannot be switched with another one.
Gumi and all veterans gave up on including newer players a long time ago. Something I have been pointing out in Discord for months now, but they are okay with skipping content that might give newer players access to more cheap stuff.
And not just new players. I'm a returning player and this system just seems skewed against me as well lol. I already hated CoW (ever since its inception) because of how it limits team building due to the EX levels requirements, and with this new system it's just even worse.
Bruh, I tossed like 10 tickets on Mirei banner, got Esther as first NV and her as the second one. Then I did the card summon expecting I would get at least one extra copy of her and didn't got a single NV, besides the guaranteed ones that were all off banner 🙄Save by a Veritas of Frost on 5th step. Really, when the RNG of this game wants to troll you it does a very good job at it.
So they introduced a new mode that requires you to use vertex abilities meaning you need one of two units, the new one or Esther who is a bad physical dps, that they didnt upgrade or fix, and whose only use is to physical tank and they made the fight a magical tank fight? What is that god awful design. First they force you to pull for units that will have Focus, then they force you to pull for vertex units, and then they dont balance the fights to make it so the older units getting those abilities can put up a fight still even if it will be harder. This is horrible design that makes me not want to pull the new unit and not want to play cause why would I if she is probably going to be forgotten and thrown to the side like all these other units they force you to pull to rank one especially since Lapis economy has decreased so much. Yeah no ill more than likely skip her too.
Honestly I think their simple mindset was "Hey everyone loves Esther so let's give her an ability that will make her useful for the new mode. She's lightning element so make it a little lightning resist, that should be fine. They will LOVE IT!" No thought at all to how outdated she it or how her limited usefulness doesn't even match up to mechanics of the fight. They literally were just trying to bait people with a beloved unit without thinking ANY deeper about it than that.
Maybe if they see alot the teams in the rankings not using the new CoW unit (hardly any teams are FYI) moving forward, meaning we aren't pulling, they might remove this god forsaken mode
Nothing would hurt this game more than if you quit. You have to be considering it. Let gummi self-immolate and most of us would delete the game with you! Remember when Gummi reran Rikku's banner and then nerfed her counter attack mechanism "in the spirit of fairness." An entire year of cut content and upgrades, but the last 4 months have been abysmal.
For the Vertex abilities I think the best thing they could do to make it both easier on new/F2P players and units cuz Mirei can’t do everything she needs to do in the time limit because of it is that they could add some Vertex abilities to stuff like equipment so that support units can take care of casting the Vertex abilities while DPS units can focus on damage without having to worry if they casted their Vertex ability or not.
Well tbh as long as lvl 99 isn't harder than before I'm OK with all this nonsense. Cow was already my least favorite content in this game, the requirements for rank 1 already were stupid, now they took it to another level. Hope they take their sweet time to figure out their next steps, I can see a lot of people that will not continue to put up with their continuous stream of horrible decisions
Slowly but surely they're screwing up every event. Why did they have to put this new thing in COW ? The rewards were bad anyway. Except for the cow gear shards the rest was garbage.
The obnoxius drop this month is aight it has duane which is perfect for those who wanna ex2 him or something but im more wondering WHY the hell free raegen dark lineage is in the store
They could have put duane in the shop even without over complicating cow and i'm gonna answer your question with another question. Why are we still getting the first NV rain, a trash unit, which also is free on new banners ? The answer is cuz they don't give a shit.
This mode sucks so bad i just ignore the new gauge and reach only lv98 for full rewards Gimu you screwed up everything with this new system i hope we never see this mode again in future
