Japan (1953) 

I cannot believe that this film was shot in 1953 only 8 years after the end of World War II. In this footage, Japan looked completely recovered from social and economic disorders during the immediate period after the Pacific War. Japan`s recovery was really quick and impressive.

My grandparents lived in japan for a bit back in the 60s and I have picture of them in front of the Great Buddha that was in this video. And I also have the kimono he got while he was there.

I'ts so nice to see Japan in 1953. I was born in 1956. There are some incorrect things. but I liked it.

Now it is one of the richest most advanced countries out there!

焼け野原から経済復興したのも凄いけど文化面も凄い。明治維新から戦前までずっと植民地主義の列強に並ぶために欧米志向で、更にWW2敗戦後の米軍進駐と米資本が沢山入ってアメリカナイズされても伝統文化を継承してってるの凄くない？ よく海外コメで先端技術（あとポップカルチャー）と伝統文化の両立を褒めてる人いるけど、文化消されて西洋化される側である「西洋以外」に属しながらそれを成し遂げてるのは誇りだね

Impression of one American GI stayed in there shortly after WWII. "They eat lunch in 5 minutes and play catch for the rest of the lunch time." That's an accurate description. lol
