Yeah, over time, the house has sunken a little. That crack is definitely a result of that. I haven't really figured out what to do about it or how to fix it. I've just accepted it for what it is. I have seen some houses literally put on jack stands and raised so they can repair very bad foundations... but those houses were completely in ruin. I can't see that method being very cheap.

Yeah, hence the gloves lol but since they are on the exterior, I have little contact with them in daily life lol 😂 Your interior of your house stains your hands? Lol maybe it the persimmon stain that they used to use?

Thanks! To answer your question, the initial burned outer portion will ''wash'' off with rain eventually over the course of 5 years or so. It will begin to expose the wood underneath that is, essentially, still ''baked'' but a little harder than the outer surface. That portion is less black and more of a dark brown much like a piece of firewood that doesn't burn all the way through. It's still tough and hard but doesn't have the really dark color. But eventually the sun will bleach that portion and it'll become lighter and lighter. There is a type of yaki sugi ban that is painted over with a clear coat to preserve the black fired area for a bit longer but the longevity is negligible compared to the cost. It will always end up looking the same. I might make a video showing some of the stages of the wood. There are plenty of homes around the town in various states of sugi ban degradation. I checked out your video! Great work! The windows are probably the single worst source of cold coming into the house. I would love to upgrade them but they are huge upstairs. The cost is just too much right now. For now I am insulating the floors and cracks around the windows. I am sure you know as well as I do that the cold attacks from all angles and is a worthy opponent that we always lose against lol

I'll try the no talking style ever so often. It's tougher to make because every action has to be conveyed through film. And I never leave those bags out. I always take them to the dump after. But sounds like you have experience with that lol My neighbors would probably hate seeing them laying around lol

@@DIYJapan yes, I do indeed have experience with disintegrating plastic bags unfortunately. That and the previous owner burried a bunch of styrafoam boxes in the small garden, which we are still cleaning up a year later lol. Had to sift dirt in my Gorilla Cart with water to get the majority of it separated(it floats ofc)

Sounds like it was a nightmare. They seem like they could disintegrate with moisture… once dipped into water and they would dissolve lol

This is purchased exactly how you see it. It’s charred from the lumber place I order it from. I think maybe in America you’d have to do it yourself? Can’t imagine any place selling burnt wood lol no one would buy it in America lol

I think part of the benefit is it being a bug repellant for things like termites and burrowing bees. It’s really messy though. Obviously I have no reason to touch it but if I did it would leave me covered in black lol I can’t see any American house wife agreeing to that lol but I do see some people starting to use it.

This came from Italy. There are two companies who make these, La Pavoni and Gaggia Factory. Search them! But my unit is custom made with the temperature adjustments so it’s a little different.

Hey Janis, this is a Gaggia Factory lever machine. It’s almost exactly the same as the more readily available La Pavoni professional. It’s probably more compact than a traditional cappuccino machine but more difficult to use.

I totally agree about the screws being unsightly. On the upper part I had smeared them with black caulk to hide them but on the bottom I will paint them with black metal paint later to cover them up. I just didn't get a chance to for the video because it actually started to rain and never cease lol
