◆Between Toyama and Nagano prefectures,
there is a steep 3,000m-high mountain range called the Japan Alps.
However, there is a route that passes directly through this mountain to Toyama.
This route is called the Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine Route.

Sorry, 8:48 is a misleading expression. I meant that Tateyama is the only place in Japan where trolleybuses run.

I did this trip a few years ago, starting from Toyama in the morning, and getting back to Tokyo from Matsumoto, about 12 hours in all. One of the best days I've had in Japan. Another good day trip from Toyama is up to Unazuki to ride on the Kurobe Gorge railway.

Great video. I have done this trip twice later in the year when the snow walls had all melted. From Murodo I hiked part of the way up Mount Oyama, past the Ishinokoshi hut. It's an amazing trip. As an international visitor it cost 9,000 yen. It's amazing how all the different modes of transport gel together - superb Japanese efficiency. Next time I go to Japan, I want to do it in the opposite direction - starting at Toyama. I really enjoyed watching this. Thanks.

8:49 In case anyone was confused: It is meant that there is only one trolley bus system in the entirety of Japan, this one in Tateyama; there are some trolley bus systems elsewhere.
@thany3
@thany3 2 года назад
It also depends heavily on their definition of "trolley bus". By the definition given, the Yurikamome could also be one.

My family greatly enjoys all of your travel videos. Your quiet, very observant, polite and witty personality is always enjoyable and yet never intrudes on the scenery. Also we love it that you do NOT have distracting "music" in the "background." EXCELLENT work. Thank you! (We're Americans living in Oregon, on the USA west coast).
