Bhetki mach is an important part of Bengali cuisine. This fish is much more famous for its another dish, the bhetki bhapa. But this dish is a common household fish curry in bengal. Usually prepared during winter with fresh cauliflower.
I tried to replicate the same in here in Japan. But this dish is made with frozen bhetki mach, the freshness of the fish as in bengal was lacking, but the dish tastes wonderful. It goes well with steamed rice. Ideal for lunch for a fish loving benagli.
