@Anastasia910Peace Well, Japanese Emperor doesn't have political power. The Emperor and the royal family are the symbol of Japan, they are supposed to be the best model for Japanese people. It's stipulated in the constitution. At the same time the Emperor is the highest priest of Shinto (神道), various ritual ceremonies and daily prayers are his impotant duty. Everyday he prays to gods heartedly for people's happiness and world peace. We Japanese always love and respect our Emperor.
Let's not point fingers because indian Americans could point fingers to white settlers too.. All cultures have gone into eras of war, but some have surpassed those eras and have become peaceful. What is the last war Japan participated in? or Korea? they are actually in friendly terms now.
I think adopting others' cultures is Japanese culture. They write in Chinese characters everyday, even their tranditional customes kimono/gofuku were derived from hanfu (Chinese). They are very good at absorbing foreign culture. I think that's why.
So? Japan has already been tried for at Tokyo trial and paid so much compensation, and Korea accepted it promising that Korea is not gonna accuse Japan about what Japan did during WW2. Internationally, it's solved. So, Korea shouldn't interfer in the internal affairs of Japan such as visiting Yasukuni. However, in fact, Korea has been persistently claiming breaking the Treaty. WHY??? If they still want to accuse, they need to pay back all compensation and ODA that Japan paid. That's the fair.

It's not sexism. For 125 genrations (2572 years), Japan has had an EMPEROR. It is a tradition and culture. I understand where people are coming from, but what distinguishes other Imperial Family and the Emperor is that Japan has the longest, single sex lineage family in the world. If we were to change this, Japan and the Emperor will just be the SAME with everyone else.

@@joan279 I highly doubt that.Japan has had 8 female EMPERORS in its long history.Not to mention dozens of ruling queens before Japan became an empire.In fact the very first named and confirmed Japanese ruler was Queen Himiko of Yamataikoku.BTW Empress Genmei abdicated the throne in favour of her daughter,Empress Gensho even though she had an older son who was still alive and healthy.

No. I'm not implying guilt for the past or present generation after the war. That is ludicrous. As an American, historically I feel shame for my country's behavior towards the Native Americans/Indians, our involvement in Vietnam and so other odious affairs of state of the USA. That is the legacy of any country's past. Shame. But the seat of the Emperor should have been abolished and the Imperial Family and all noble titles should have been also abolished. Germany, Austria, Italy, also.
All east asian groups have some of each other's blood in them (especially in North Korea, China and Middle part of Japan). Ethnic groups are not formed purely by genetics. Sure, you have to have at least 1% of their bloodline but it's mostly formed by historical relations.
