My favourite band when I was a teenager in England. They were big here, I think Ghosts got to number 5 in the charts. Saw them twice live. Mick Khan the bassist is sadly no longer with us. Watch the Bowie film Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence to hear David Sylvian/Riuichi Sakamoto collaboration for the film's theme "Forbidden Colours" - beautiful song.
Well done on discovering Japan . You have taken a step into a wider world . check out Life in Tokyo, I second that emotion and European son as they were stand alone singles
maybe they're niche in america and the rest of europe? here in the uk, even some of us gen-zers know who japan are! lol also, you've totally got to listen to david sylvian's solo work, as well as his collaborations with ryuichi sakamoto from ymo if you haven't already!
I guess it might be a UK thing, because I've never met anyone who's even heard of the band. Also, thanks for the suggestion! I was already planning to listen to Brilliant Treas sometime :)
Sounds like disco Bowie and I'd have to listen to Bowie more to get if new ground covered. Maybe influenced the strokes. That moon song Bowie one I forget is good.
