@@bety.suhartini no joke. when 9 11 happened I legit thought it was the Japanese. Because you know flying planes in ships, makes sense for someone to get revenge for the two nukes. I was also like 7 years old at the time
@@4umy I don't think there's probably anyone who still holds a grudge against the Americans for the atomic bombing, 56 years after the bombing, to suddenly do something like that. On the day of 9/11... I was about the same age as you... as soon as I woke up in the morning, the news was on all the time and I was so scared... I thought if something like this happened in America, something might happen in Japan too…
My grandfather passed on a Japanese WW2 Type 30 bayonet to my father, then he gave it to me. Its always been my dream to match it up with an original A99 rifle. Ty again for your fantastic videos
That's right! Many rifles had the chrysanthemum defaced by Japanese soldiers when they surrendered because it was a symbol of the Emperor and it signified that the gun was the property of the Emperor, a gift bestowed upon the average soldier by the ruler of Japan. Naturally the Japanese weren't too keen on US soldiers taking the property of the emperor so they defaced the mum.
Groupings indicate a good bore condition. Receiver is cleanly finished. Stock is fully lacquered, features all important component minus the monopod. Chrysanthemum crest is unfortunately damaged, indicating a surrender rifle.
Although rusty and corroded, I found a beautiful Arisaka Type 99 in a cave on the Island of Iwo Jima when I was the Security Coordinator for the Island representing the U.S. Navy in 1994. The rifle was so beautiful, but told a horrid story of it's user. The clip with ammunition attached was only partially inserted into the gun, frozen in time with rust and the green oxidation that had formed over the years on the bullets. I have always wondered what the story behind this partially loaded rifle was, but sadly will never know it.
My great grandfather brought one of these back from his service in the pacific. It does not fire, as the barrel is plugged and the firing pin is not attached, but it is still an heirloom I am proud of in my family.
Roebuck : insulting Tojo then yell Ambushed ! Polonsky : Another d4amn banzai charge ! IJA : Speak in grass and tree then The Banzai jumpscare ! Literally Me : Browning Machine Gun goes Brrrr !
The ammo for these is soooo expensive now, seems like norma must have stopped making it during the whole ammo craze recently. Just started reloading my brass now tho so that helps. Loved that you included the aircraft sights bit 😂
When you load the 5 rounds in the weapon, just close the bolt smartly, the stripper clip will pop out, you don't have to remove it by hand, all mauser type actions are designed that way.
Man what i would give to have such an extensive collection of historical guns. Hell, I'm having trouble just finding a mosin as cheap as they used to be years ago.
Once upon a time in the Treyarch's game be like these : Roebuck : insulting Tojo then yell Ambushed ! Polonsky : Another d4amn banzai charge ! IJA : Speak in grass and tree then The Banzai jumpscare ! Literally ME : Browning Machine Gun goes Brrrr !
Thats i thought about... all of your videos, guns are from the game Hidden and dangerous 2. It's the wonderful game! And guns there... physics for that period. I love it
This ARISAKA TYPE 99: Imperial Chrysanthemum not filed off. Many Japanese who surrendered would first file off this symbol so as not to bring shame on the emperor. But the practice was not universally observed and I suspect that there was usually no way to do this in a "hot" situation.
That Type 99 is a beauty. It looks like it just came off the factory line. Granted, there are signs of wear, but for a rifle that's easily 80 years old (if not older), it's in amazingly good condition.
When I would play call of duty world at war I used the iron sight arisaka and I absolutely destroyed everyone. I had the best game of my entire life went 37 kills.
I heard from forgotten weapons that the barrels of these rifles are top quality. And the rattling sound of the early model dust covers are quite pleasant to hear imo. Definitely an underrated ww2 bolt action that's overshadowed by mausers, mosins, and enfields.
