Japanese Bands - When Unexpected Moments Happen at Concerts 

Those two moments are still the coolest moments in my life! BAND-MAID IS 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Other moments for Band-Maid: Akane's banana throw in San Francisco, bowling in Nashville, Tennessee, Kanami throwing her headdress at Afterschock 2022.

In LA in2022 for Misa's birthday, she asked for a tequila shot. She got it and drank it onstage! We all went wild!

During the breakdown in BABYMETAL's Megitsune, Moa is constantly trying to make Su laugh.

On that Babymetal show just after Yui fell of stage Moa strained her leg and was dancing while crying for the last song. But the show must go on. That's all recorded too. We also have some pic of Yui on the floor in some american show with ice on her head after being heatstruck. We don't have images but we know because fans saw the ambulance and later investigated, that Moa also got heatstruck and had to be carried to the hospital after a show in...San Francisco I think? Around 2015/2016. In Lovebites the last three shows we have recorded someone finished crying too. In this september show in Tokyo at the end Midori is emotional and spilling tears of joy at the end. In their latest DVD, recorded this march, the last part of the last song (Glory to the World) is sang while asami is crying. After three years of inactivity, they closed their first concert and as she sang her last notes she realized they were still f. awesome and couldn't contain the emotion. And in the 2021 show we see miho crying at the end too, we still didn't know, but she knew at that point already that it was her last minute in Lovebites.

Years before the Osaka Jo Hall show, Scandal used to do free shows on the street outside of the hall. They would announce that one day they would play on that big bldg, all while nobody was even stopping to listen to them. That is why they were so emotional about playing that day. It was accomplishing a goal they had set years before when they eere all dtillin high school.

Yukina crowd surfed at one of their concerts that I went to a couple months ago. That was awesome. All these bands put on a great show and hopefully they get even more recognition. I love how they take time to interact with their fans during the shows. It was a great year for me as I got to see Band Maid, Babymetal, and Hanabie. I seen Hanabie perform 2 days in a row. It was a lot of driving and not alot of sleep, but definitely worth it.

There is no arrogance in any of these bands despite their growing popularity as they play bigger and bigger venues. I take Band Maid and Nemophila as examples. They remain very close to their fans and always show so much kindness, simplicity and generosity. By the way, Akane has a signature of Wincent drumsticks and Misa has a signature of a Black Smoker bass. Recognition for great musicians. PRS what are you waiting for to make a special guitar model for Kanami? Thanks VG.

One moment to add is Miku's guitar problems when Band-Maid was opening for the Last Rockstars. In the end she abandoned her guitar and started just to sing - just like in the early days of Band-Maid. She didn't give up, she just rocked on!

The whole 2023 tour of BABYMETAL was something special. All of a sudden they became very interactive with the crowd that gave us some insane moments

Ha! I was at two of these, Akane forgetting to plug in her monitors in Sacramento and Hara-chan falling on her ass in SF...also had Yukina dive onto me in LA. Love these bands.

These are such great moments. Sometimes I re-watch some shows becasue of these and other little moments. SCANDAL has a lot of these - right about the second album "Temptation Box", the end of the 2010 tour in Zepp Tokyo, Tomomi also cries when the crowd starts singing a part of "SCANDAL Baby" and Haruna stops singing and encourages the crowd to go all the way with the verse... There are many many moments with BiSH as well - one of my favs is the moment when Ayuni D is introduced to the fans by almost the end of a show - she still gets to sing and dance with them 3 or 4 songs - she looks almost fragile but she get's through, she is cheered when is her time to sing, the crowd is wild but really supportive (aah, that too... Japanese crowds... here is a video you could do about!) The moment when PEDRO (Ayuni D's solo project while still with BiSH and now with a new awesome album) comes back to the stage for the encore with a BiSH cover: "Hontou Honki"(this is the first song Ayuni D wrote the lyrics in BiSH) in their first live - fast, brutal punk and Ayuni's high note at the end it's epic... and you can notice a very subtle smirk when she sings the last words of the song - there you can tell she is thinking "I freaking nailed it!!" - by the way, Ayuni D at this point is close to turn 19. She started learning bass 8 months prior to this concert, where she sings and plays bass. That moment of Saiki among the crowd is one of my favs from Band-Maid, but for me, it's really a sequence of moments that start with the song "FREEDOM" with Miku picking up the microphone, stops playing guitar and sings along with Saiki, then later she comes behind Kanami that is just focused on her solo until she notices Miku behind her and both turn to each other just having fun... while this happens, Saiki takes her shoes off and steps down from the stage to meet the crowd, steps up on the fence and sings being belt-held by some member staff, then comes down and doesn't come up for the last "FREEDOM" verse, so Miku sings it... the song is over and "REAL EXISTENCE" starts like a thunder, Saiki comes back on stage, barefooted just like MISA, and they even have a little dance between the two in the middle of the song... Saiki takes Kanami's solo to get back on her shoes and the song comes to an end - It's worth check these two songs from this concert. ...and so on, and so on...

First such incident I came across: Final song of Farewell concert of Stereopony. Emotional overload!

All Gacharic Spin members bare their emotions live, especially Koga (announcements) and Angie, particularly during one emotional song at a show commemorating Angie's 20th birthday anniversary, that Hana filled in for Angie's vocals on the spot. Lovebites' Midori made a spectacular save in heels after tripping over Asami; Miyako and (I think) Fami's heels tangled up at a videotaped concert this year. And didn't Misa or Miku's guitar collide with the other's face at an show early in their career? I'm always amazed that they can proceed as if nothing happened. All of these moments show us adoring fans that our rock stars are humans, not goddesses. Thanks for posting these. If you do a part 2, consider Mexico's The Warning, a spectacular band who I think has had their share of "spectacular moments."

During BABYMETAL's live of Megitsune, Moa almost always does Hengao with Su.

When Lovebites were playing Scream For Me, and Midori was leaning on Asami - who suddenly moved away! Midori had to hop on one leg to regain her balance - but didn't miss a note! 🤘🔥💜

i saw Hanabie live in Germany and they played 'Ein Prosit', which is like a Cheers song to drink beer. 😂 and yeah, Live (or live recordings) are the best for Japanese Bands/Artists 💙I often watch concerts with other people together. Another example would be LiSA. I know not a Band, but she is often emotional and still super humble, that she made it and is filling arenas and halls. Just watch e.g. 'Believe in myself'

Man I used to listen so much to Scandal 10 years ago and I pratically have seen their growth and change of styles. I was crazy to see updates about them, I joined chinese forums, was always in fanclubs and was one of the top listeners. Sadly I don't follow them anymore as much, but I'm happy they got the success they deserve. Tomomi was always so emotional and I lost count of how many times I watched the first DVDs, where the stages weren't as big but you could see they had the potential already.

I Was at the Band-Maid Chicago show. It was a fantastic show! I didn't know Kanami was sick in Chicago.

It is extremely rare to see a band give credit to their 'assistants' or roadies and other technicians who without them there would be NO show. All those people work their guts out with LONG hours and little rest. They should be shown recognition. They arrive sopmetimes days before a concert and set up all the equipment and scaffolding, lighting and platforms. ALL the equipment. If something goes wrong during the show they fix it and after the band leaves the stage they bump out and load up the trucks and drive to the next venue and do it all again. Everything is loaded into the trucks in the exact order needed so they can unload the first things to be set up all in order. I think it was Pink Floyd who gave a million dollars to each of their crew after a world tour to say thanks.

I was there the day before YUIMETAL fell for the "Red Night" and it was MOAMETAL who did fall while running, she got back but she was clearly enduring a huge pain while dancing like nothing on Ijime, Dame, Zetai...

Two all time greats from Band-Maid: - Miku loses it and cracks up onstage when the crowd chants "USA! Say it!" back at her during her Magic Spell Time routine. - Misa in Seattle 2016 (their first American concert, I think) gets an uproarious crowd reaction simply by saying "Hi", then backs away from the mic and hides her face when the crowd starts chanting "MISA! MISA! MISA!" An oldie from Shonen Knife: - Michie is talking to the audience during a concert in Canada (I think), mentions something about Doraemon, and some guy in the crowd goes nuts. She smirks at the guy and asks "You are Doraemon?"

Fun! Well done.

As an ex rocker who still collects, builds and sells electric guitars I can't be any happier seeing stuff like this. Another generation doing it! Yes!

2:42 I saw that moment live during the Zeiko live stream event of NEMOPHILA's 2nd Anniversary Concert. MAYU gave an emotional thank you to her band members for being part of this band in the circle that you also showed right before that performance. HARA was especially emotional and right at the moment she moved up next to MAYU in the choreography of that song is when MAYU completely lost it. She turned that entire venue including the live stream into a smoldering sawmill. Mostly edited out of the DVD version, to this day that original performance is my very favorite performance of that Anthem track. LIFE 🤘😂🤘

This are happened to LiSA, Van Tomiko and Takanori too.. And for Yui,, I heard rumor that what happened in Budokan is the reason she left Babymetal. Her ankle can't handle all the dancing movement that they have to do anymore. Because after she felt, she has to back on stage and finished the rest of performance. And they have to perform on many others festivals around the world.

Seen a short vid of hettsu of hanabie being in the center of the crowd while they where playing a song the crowd ran circles around her it’s was cool to see it

@2:44 Think that moment was a little extra special for Nemophila, as they were just getting started in 2019 and right as they had momentum 2020 happened and they had to freeze all live activity. I think this concert here was one of, it not the first, to happen post-pandemic when concerts were allowed crowds again.

in 2016, a concert of passcode (idol) in japan, , the crowd start to get crazy in the pit, so security goes in, one with megaphone start saying keep cool stuff, but one guy in crowd steal it, and all the concert it was fan backup between each song, like "encore" "encore" at megaphon, so much fun since the crowd had a voice and can weigh between song, it was so cool ^^

Not a band per sé, but BiSH did a lot of all of those things over the years and especially in their earlier years. Laugh about and with each other when someone tripped or did something wrong, try to throw each other off, cry on stage (especially Aina while singing Orchestra), stage diving with actual jumping off, bringing fans on stage and "tormenting" them, and a lot of other stuff. Also there was a festival with Babymetal where Su threw her fan during Megitsune and it came back like a boomerang and hit Moa in the face.

May 25th 2024 Scandal concert at Zepp Haneda (Tokyo) two parts, one part Tomomi talked about that she gain weight and another part Rina commented that she happy because they didn’t hide her in the back as normal

When Kanami's guitar gets unplugged during a concert, when Kanami, Misa, Saiki and Miku get to play Akane's drums, when Saiki loses her shoes and sings barefoot, Misa's opening ceremony, when they say hello in spanish in Mexico. Great video by the way

How about way back in the day when Su-Metal shouted out "Come on you guys" mid-verse near the end of their performance of "Road of Resistance" back when people had been saying they'd never make it and she was basically challenging them to recognize that they HAD made it, then later, saying that same thing, at the same time in her song at the Tokyo Dome? (or whatever its called.. im really bad with the names there XD) but that time said with a smile as a sort of "see, were still here?" moment.

One thing that is sad is that SCANDAL doesn't get their share of the limelight. They are Japan's real veteran rockers who are going into their 18th year together, since graduating high school, and are as relevant and exciting today as they were all those years ago. And speaking of SCANDAL, you showed the 10th Anniversary Concert. It is not well-known, I believe, that Haruna lead singer and guitarist suffered from heatstroke during that concert, which was on a 100 degree day with high humidity and the sun was shining directly on the sage. There are times during the concert where Tomomi, Rina and Mami had to jump in on vocals because the heat was affecting Haruna. It was also at that concert where during "Shunkan Sentimental", the crowd sang the lyrics out loud with the band so strongly you could understand it on the music video. And they did the same with the chorus. It was just very cool to see. And for just cuteness alone, Miku and her mini-me at the Salt Lake City show was just adorable.

During a concert, Angie from Gacharic spin got off the stage and joined the crowd as if she were a spectator. There is a video on RU-vid but I can't find it anymore.

I would like to see the moment when Hettsu had too much fun on stage during the beginning of the US tour which resulted in her leg injury. When I saw Hanabie in Orlando she had to sit during the show. .. and add another show she was actually playing her bass in the middle of the mosh pit .. or Miku I believe it was at a Tennessee show . Where she was trying to do magic time and everyone else want to do bowling time
