I believe the love for Japanese breakfast is not only mine since the Japanese breakfast video has been the most popular video on my channel. However, I do understand how time-consuming and labor intensive that is to make in the morning! I'm showing preps and process to make your kitchen life a little easier in this video! I hope this video will trigger you to make one for yourself! For more Japanese breakfast ideas, watch this ru-vid.com/group/PLd2bpmPI5YufvvAbtv5I66_dlttntziJF Thank you for stopping by!
A amazing dish for morning looks really good I love fish and Japanese food is always so eddeckit. Just adds onto the list of why I would love to live in Japan. I think it's beautiful!
In the souther east coast of America fish even tho it is a major staple of the common mans pantry is like never ever ever served for breakfast just lunch and dinner
I'm an American who has been living in Japan for three years now, and I LOVE Japanese-style breakfast. I'll choose it over western-style breakfast any day. I don't usually have time to make it in the morning so I usually have it for dinner instead lol
The reason I love Japanese cooking is because it does not hurt my stomach. Always fresh and healthy. I lost 50lbs in mitoshi when I lived in japan. So I'm hoping to learn how to cook some Japanese recipies.
Being a Middle Easterner, our food can be "complicated" and very rich and heavy. I've been adopting Japanese style cooking lately and got more into salmon (cooking it in my instant pot) I can tell that the Japanese diet/meals are much healthier and simpler (well, I wanted an excuse to add Sake to my meals 😉). I've been making the rice overnight also since a day old rice has been very helpful in many dishes 👍👍
Middle Eastern food is so good! I personally am a BIG fan of traditional Afghan cuisine :] Also, totally get it! I'm Italian and our food tends to be very heavy. I love lighter meals throughout the day, especially during my practice.
@@arizonagreenbee thanks, I'm going to look into the Afghani food next. It might be close to the one I'm used to since I'm from Iraq, and we cook many Persian dishes at certain regions of my Homeland. And since you're Italian, that is my ultimate comfort food.. I got excited everytime I watched the Sopranos on TV having conversation over food before they whacked someone 😂😂😂 !!

Hi from Queensland, Australia! I just wanted to thank you 🙏 for making these amazing videos. My youngest son (12) and I have been learning about Japanese cooking and trying some of your recipes. We’ve never really had a lot of Japanese food before. It’s delicious! So far we’ve tried omelettes with vegetables we don’t usually use, and rice with seasonings that are new to us. Last night, I marinated our salmon in salt and sugar and today, we’re looking forward to trying it. The texture of the raw fish is much firmer after marinating, just as you said. We’ve also made miso soup balls yesterday. We also tried tofu for the first time ever! I’ve recommended your channel to my friends. Have a great day ☺️
This every morning, with some Japanese Lofi and hot green tea! The Dream! Before Covid-19 I was working for a Sushi Company here in the US, called Genji. In less than six months I was hooked on how food is made in the Japanese way. Just washing the rice alone always put my mind in a state of Zin, cutting all my veg's and then learning how to cut the different types of fish. Now that Covid-19 is easing some in the U.S. I wanted to get back into cooking proper Japanese food so I am thinking of a Food Truck. I've always had a love for Japanese culture, language, food, and some of the ways they live day to day. Miwasan, arigatōgozaimashita!
I too have always wanted to do authentic Japanese Cuisine in a food truck (and start a Japanese Cultural Learning Center) but here in Alaska. I wish you success in your endeavor.
When I visit Japan I always stay in Ryokans and one of my favorite things to look forward to was enjoying breakfast and interacting with the owners of the Ryokan in the morning. Love how fresh and simplistic but full of flavor Japanese breakfast are.
Simplistic? Wouldn't call it like that if your country's staple breakfast was bread or cereals, and if you wanna do really healthy some oats with fruits, nuts and seeds or a smoothie bowl and then we're talking about doing much effort for breakfast. XD
Hello from America! My Grandmother was from Hokkaido and lived with my parents and I until she passed at home surrounded by family. She used to make a breakfast very similar to this, but with the addition of Natto. Of course, always Miso soup with everything. This video reminds me of her and makes me miss her so much! Thank you for sharing.
haha!!! I totally understand that!!! Enjoy anytime in a day and week!! you effort and time will be paid off when you taste it😊🙏thank you very much for your comment Dominic Lewis!!
@@maretvilla1531 Well I don't think cooked salmon overnight and reheated would taste closely as good. Similar for miso soup also. And even rice, unless you make a fried rice out of it which again takes more time. Of course for the rice having a rice cooker with a timer function really helps.
😍I loved breakfast when we lived on Okinawa...not being an eggs, bacon, or cereal in the morning type of person, I loved having breakfast with my neighbor after the kids woke up, had their typical American breakfast, and my husband left for work...it was beautiful sharing the experiences often and had I known for sure we could have survived on SOFA status, I would still be there today 30 years later🤗
You are such a sweet person. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and being so kind to pass along. I love Japanese culinary and it's always good to learn more
@@gm.5615 That is also not correct, less salt = more sugar. So you're substituting one thing for something equally as bad. Also, it's not well balanced either. Most of their breakfast is empty calories, except for an occasional natto. Also, it's a misconception that they eat sushi all the time...most of their food is just like ours, prepackaged just heat it up stuff.
For everyone complaining that they don't have time in the mornings, on the weekend you can make a huge batch of most of these things, portion them out, and freeze them for several months ahead of time. Soups and rice especially freeze really well. The things that don't freeze well, like the salad, don't take long to make. You can also pre-shred the greens and nori, and pre-mix the dressing and keep those items in the fridge on a weekly basis. This is how I meal prep most of my meals and it's really convenient for when I'm feeling lazy and don't want to cook. Great video btw! I love seeing what other countries eat for breakfast. American breakfast can get really boring sometimes haha.
Wow, Miwa! That salad looks amazing! I never would have thought to soften the lettuce like that. It looks really delicious! Thank you so much for sharing with us.
I loved off of this in the Philippines 😁 I worked for a US call center and was sent to train and lived in a hotel for 2 months. we worked US hours and only breakfast was available at my dinner so I ate this almost every "night". Love it thank you!
I’m an American and Japanese Breakfast is my go to breakfast just Tomagoyaki, homemade pickled Daikon or carrots, rice I made the day before, and backed cod or salmon, with either miso soup, or canned chicken noodle soup depending on if I want to actually cook but I’ve actually been losing weight eating this instead of cereal I feel great and healthy
Miwa San! I never thought of warming up lettuce but the dressing and adding nori sounds delicious! We love salted salmon (I love daikon oroshi) with rice and miso soup for breakfast!
I just had the same breakfast in this morning! haha lettuce is not soft all the way. it will still have a crunchiness left, but holds up the dressing better than raw form! I hope you will give it a shot one day for the simple side dish!
Thank you so much! I recently found your channel and I have had a deep love of Japan and Japanese cooking since I can remember. I have finally located a decent Asian market (even if its over and hour drive away!) as well as a good fishmonger. Asian groceries are a lot more expensive in my country, so I love your videos about freezing meals to save me driving time and all the home-made versions as well of pickling to keep my fridge stocked for side dishes. Thank you again so much!
it sounds like you have all the environment set up for you! Asian groceries and fishmonger ! I'm so happy to hear that you found my video useful to enrich your cooking life even more! Thank you for your kind comment!! Tag me if you make any of Japanese food @miwajapanesecookingclass on IG! I would love to see!!
Me too. I dream of eating all the tasty food. Katsu Sando, b Kyu gourmet, 40% discounted supermarket sushi after 5pm at kinokuya, tempura donburi, yakitori, Jiro ramen... I want it all!
Looks wonderful. I really like how your facial expressions show how excited you are about the flavor of the food. Reminds me a little of how Gordon Ramsay gets so passionate about his cooking.
I’m very fortunate to have visited Japan and I was really impressed with the cuisine….but I too was confused as to the order I should eat what was set out on the table. My hosts however were very gracious and put me at my ease telling me to just eat and enjoy! Which I did!
Look this. Simple, easy. Taste good and minimal seasoning. I tried to season the fish with soy sauce, sugar. It actually tasted worse than just sugar and salt. Very interesting
Thank you so much for all the wonderful videos!! I am an American that is (unfortunately) a bit overweight, I have turned to eating a Japanese style and it has been so helpful with managing my weight and thyroid!
Hello from Connecticut! really love the simplicity of the cooking and how nourishing the food looks. It’s really a clean, wholesome way of eating instead of the sugar laden pancakes/waffles/cereal/bacon that is often preferred here in the US that really weighs you down. Even the color of the salmon screams nourishment 😋
Similar like in my home. However, before using Nori, we dry the sheets over the flame of the stove. It then is easier to crumble the Nori. Also, we make Dashi from scratch. Greetings from Germany.
I grew up eating eggs and some kind of pork. Bacon, ham, sausage, you get the idea. As I have traveled in the Military, I experienced small bits and pieces of other cultures. I love the idea of savory dishes for breakfast and the variety of textures and flavors. I am just frustrated that fresh seafood is near impossible to come by where I live now in Southern Tennessee. I think I could eat fresh seafood every day. Thank you for sharing this with us! I will have to try the method for cooking salmon the next chance I get
As always, Miwa, a super informative and lovely video! Never boring, I look forward to your new videos as well as return to view your previous videos again and again. You’re voiceover is very instructional as well as sweet and genuine! I really appreciate your videos, so thank you!
My mom and I made this together and some more soup recipes from another video and we had so much fun!! Thank you for the recipes and videos it’s amazing and super delicious 💕
I wanted to thank you for the video. I won't be doing Japanese cooking, but the video was very inspirational to me. Seeing how you incorporate veggies into almost every dish has given me a lot of good ideas on how to do the same. You do it pretty simply, too, which I appreciate. I will start using miso and seaweed, even if I don't go full Japanese. Thanks so much.👍
Yummy! I’ll definitely be trying the salmon like this. Always looking for new ways to make it. So far my favorite is in a sauce made with heavy cream, spinach and sun dried tomatoes. I usually just salt, pepper and fry for simplicity but I’ve never soaked it before. Loved your video, thank you!
Dear Miwa-san, Thank you so much for these wonderful recipes and your tips on how to cook this properly. I am absolutely making this for my best friend as a surpise, as it will be the first time we have seen each other since the pandemic started, and I wanted to make something special.
New here n wow that took great time and effort. My goodness I'm tired from trying to make the sitting n eating portions. You do the prep, cooking and excellent explaining just with pics alone. What a wonderful loving mother and all. I appreciate getting pointers to learn to be better in my day-to-day as well as new content creator. May you be blessed in a myriad of ways. Thank you 😊 💓 ☺ 💗 💛 💖
I love it so much! I never been in Japan. But I like so much Japanese food and to know more about this country. I think this food is exactly what I like. Thank you for the video ❤
When I was in a hotel in Tokyo, that's what I really had for breakfast. I was very surprised and asked the Japanese guy who was sitting next to me in the restaurant if I had the right time on my watch, if it was morning or already noon?! He smiled and said that in Japan they eat salmon around the clock! Super, very nutritious and less caloric than sausages! 🥢🍣😍
Your videos are so lovely! Thank you for sharing these delicious recipes, and for sharing videos of your home! Eating with the people you love is always the best way to enjoy any meal! 💖
Breakfast is so different around the World. This dish is something I would eat for lunch, because I haven't got time in the morning to do it. My breakfast is usually two boiled eggs with a toast or something I could prepare in 5 minutes.
instead of reusable seram wrap, i recommend getting tubberwares that's big enough for you to do these type of stuff with a lid :) I use them at home and it works great, saves money and the environment, and fast
Hi. I use a glass (my preference) plate and it works just fine when microwaving. I hardly ever use plastic wrap anymore. I microwave everything from vegetables to meat to warm up and precook before stir frying. I use a gentle warming setting for meat.
It doesn’t look time consuming at all, so long as one preps some of the things the night before. I’m sure cooking times are similar to things I already make here in the morning. The breakfast looks very delicious.
I wish I could live in Japan. I've been there a few times and always had wonderful experiences; how could you not in such an amazing country filled with gentle, friendly people? And videos like this make me want to knock down my house, and build a new one based on tatami mat sizes and live the best Japanese life I can in Australia. This video has inspired me to learn more about Japanese food and culture; however, maybe not get up at 5am to make breakfast... I will absolutely stick to your fine recipes, though. Arrigoto Miwa.
Theres something satisfying watching food being cooked and so therapeutic when you put love into food you prepare. Looks so good!!! I can eat this style of breakfast for life. PS: I love how you cook rice on stove top. A lot of us rather use rice cooker but cooking on stove gives a distinct taste and quality.
Love your personality. You have a lovely family. Thank you for sharing your delicious recipes and interesting culture. I like the idea of a bigger nutritious breakfast so thank you for showing your prep to make it more manageable
I made this for dinner. Very tasty! I first thought that it would take too long to make and that I would end up with too much food. After eating it I feel very satisfied even a few hours later. Thank you for sharing this!
Hi Miwa, thank you so much for your hard work and time put into your channel. Please let me know what is your favorite youtube channel? I'm looking for more Japanese cooking channels.
Thank you very much for your kind words! you are looking for the one in English? if so, @justonecookbook have ton of Japanese recipes! for the Japanese culture& recipes, @kimonomom seems like getting lots of attention!
I wish I could eat this more often in the morning!! But it's the time and the effort for all this that's a bit difficult to do it. When I was in Japan, I was in a hotel, where we got west breaktfast and japanese breakfast to choose, and I often chose the japanese one, 'cause it's rarely for me to eat breakfast in japanese style. But one day, I'll try this out! Really good tutorial! :)
Thank you, Miwa! I've been wanting to switch to a japanese diet for a while now, specially because I always feel SO hungry in the morning, bread is not enough, and I keep eating snacks until lunch! I love it how japanese diet is based on 3 filling meals so you can go the whole day without snacks! Unfortunatelly, salmon is super expensive in Brazil (and also my favorite food, ぴ- ぴえん 😭 ) but I think I can make it if I stop buying dairy (I'm intolerant anyway). Woah, I didn't know you could add nori to a salad or how to make misso soup properly, I've wasted those ingredients before :( I will be following you from now on! ♡
1:48 this. Miso soup is so forgiving in terms of add-ons. You can use wide range of veggies and I usually put in whatever excess of them from a specific dish I cooked before. Very useful, all-rounder soup to be honest.
I think Japanese cooking is great. I think I need to learn some basics of marinading and get a list of basic ingredients .It would be an adventure but one that would be delicious!Thank you for sharing your expertise.
started to eat healthy at home and search for Japanese cooking recipe. Thanks for the tips Miwa San. ❤️ From Singapore. looking forward to more home style & healthy recipes.
Interesting way to salt the salmon. I only know how to salt them directly with salt and leave them in kitchenpaper in the fridge. I'll try this out! My daughter loves salmon. I saw on amazon a dish that let's you make grilled fish in the microwave. I want to try that out since I always look to make cooking easier. Me and my daughter don't mind fish in the morning but my husband complains that he hates the smell of fish so early. Although I can make rice on the stove I always use my simple rice cooker. I got it when I start living on my own from my grandmother about 16 years ago and it still works :) Here we never heat up lettuce so I was surprised that you heated it up. I would have mixed the dressing, shred the nori and put it straight on the table, though I remember my grandfather telling me that when he was little there was a dish called stewed lettuce but that is pretty rare nowadays.
your rice cooker are very durable!!! I kinda understand how your husband feels! the fish smell is very potent! even though I love grilled fish, I still think what if this smell sticks to the outfit and my cloths is going to smell like a fish all day! haha stewed lettuce... I've never heard of it!! Intersting!
This looks interesting to try and copy :) Im trying to learn to cook (with... mixed results) and this seems simple enough for someone with poor cooking skills keep in mind i said simple... which means I can probably follow the instructions, and not easy... so im expecting to make mistakes on my 1st try Thanks for this video! :)
I had a big stomach surgery and even though sadly I can barely eat rice, all these other dishes are the best choices my doctor said I could make food wise! Guess its a good excuse for more delicous food hehe. Thank you for sharing this recipie!
Hi there, this is MARECELANDCURTIS channel from Canada 🇨🇦, me and my husband watched this video and I tried how you made the fish and it was great taste! I came back to watch this video again and gave you my comments I liked this video also and we are now one of your supporters now now. Thanks for sharing great videos 👍
