To be fair lobsters and shrimps are also cockroaches of the sea they just got glamorized by people wanting to turn a profit. Lobsters were considered a poor man's meal and were either discarded or used as fish bait and prisoners'' food. Its incredible how much you can influence people in believing something that was once seen as trash is now a supposed status symbol.

Glad to see the Japanese Chef killed the isopod in a humane way, looks very delicious & so happy you enjoyed it, I'm sure I would love it prepared this way, it was so great as well that you explained & clarified all the different flavours. About 5hrs beforehand I had just finished watching a video on an isopod cooked by a Vietnamese cook / chef? & he cut the isopod from the tail straight up the centre nearly to it's head while it was alive & it's legs were still running a race, the poor bugger instead of slicing it through the head first giving instant death, it was still moving when the cook got hold of it's stomach tract etc & pulled it out. The cook steamed the giant isopod first & scooped out all the meat, cutting the legs off then cut the rest of the shell into pieces scooping more meat out then fried the meat in with rice, & other ingredients, it would not be to my liking, I think it was over cooked. Thank you for sharing your new experience eating the giant cockroach isopod of the ocean.
