0:45 すごい!! I love fish and chips so much, this is my favorite food from UK 😁 The desert look so good 🤤 the sushis looks so good 🤤 the Greggs food look so good 🤤 Liam and Katy are so cool, thanks for the videos guys 🙂
That’s dope! Luv when locals take you to delicious spots to eat! That’s their love language; you can tell. 😊 They seem like a blast to hang out with! Glad you had a great day of great food!
Yes they took me to nice places and all the food we tried was absolutely amazing!! They’re super nice and kind😊 Thanks to them, I had a very good time :)
I love watching visitors to England famous for terrible food, try the classics for the first time, and get blown away by how good fish and chips can be. Curry sauce in a chippy is not usually exactly high end, but goes incredibly well with fish and chips.
OK, now I want one of those donuts with the purple ube filling! All of the food looked pretty good this time, and the sushi Samba place was really pretty. I'm writing down the restaurant names for when I visit. Thanks for the awesome video! It looks like you have a lot of subscribers there :)
My mouth still waters over that Fish n Chips you had!!! OMG!!! I don't partake of sushi much of often, but that looks wonderful!! You must've had a good day!! Hope Mum had a great flight back to Japan (I assume she flew home). Great Tour!
You're better off going further away from central London, to get a proper fish and chip shop experience. The ones in London central London seem to be a much more posh version. You get way more chips and sauce than that outside of the expensive areas. And if you go to the coast, the fish is incredibly fresh and delicious
The yorkshire coast is a good place too. Easier to find a place that uses beef dripping. Modern chippies use a vegetable oil blend that can't get to as high a temperature without burning so the batter especially absorbs more grease and it leaves a very bitter aftertaste which needs a pint of vinegar to wash away
First time viewer. What a lovely gentleman (nice subbies too). My daughter is learning Japanese as a hobby, I just blew her mind over lunch when I said "Itadakimasu". See, I've learned something from this vid and that's always a good start. :)
hiiii for some cool snacks i recommend twiglets, malteasers, crunchie, salt and vinegar crisps (maybe squares), wine gums or fruit pastilles, after eights, terrys chocolate orange, flake, dairy milk chocolate, custard creams… ok i love british snacks
@@GeorgeJapan you must try Nando’s first if you haven’t. It’s the first I do in London/Dubai. Then Gregg’s right after. 😆 Don’t even film it, just enjoy it.
Been to the UK a few years ago and tried a lot of local beloved food. Conclusion: The Brits love comfort food! Doesn't have to be fancy, it must be comfy. I love that approach, even though it's a little bit bland sometimes.
Here in Australia that most of our Chippies as in Chippie Shops actual do have (NOT) ONLY both Grilled & Battered Fish but also Crumbed Fish as well too which the Fish Fillet is completely covered in Breadcrumbs & THEN cooked in the Deep Fry & they have other Food Products which are Burgers either with &/or with OUT Beetroot BUT ONLY if requested to do so like Hamburgers, Steak Burgers &/or Steak Sandwiches, Fish Burgers, Chicken Burgers, Vegetarian Burgers, Bacon & Egg Burgers, Tropical &/or Hawaiian Burgers aka Burgers regardless Ham, Steak, Fish, Chicken, Vegetarian with a grilled Pineapple Ring on it/them BUT ONLY if requested by the Diners &/or Customers, other Food Products like Battered &/or Crumbed Saveloys, Crumbed Sausages, Crumbed Fish Cakes, Spring Rolls, Chiko Rolls, Prawn Cutlets, Battered &/or Crumbed Mussels, Battered &/or Crumbed Oysters, Squid Rings &/or Calamari, Potato Scallops, Both Potato & Sweet Potato Wedges, Both Plain & Sweet Potato Chips, Both Pineapple Ring & Banana Fritters, Salads, Desserts, but THEN it varies from (1 One) Fish & Chip Shop to another Fish & Chip Shop and also depends on their local areas & locations can vary very differently as well too of course.
I worked in a Japanese restaurant for a couple years. What impressed me the most was the variety of sauces the chefs kept handy. They were from all over the world. They didn't hesitate to use them in their own recipes either.
Haha, I've walked by that random thing many times. It's by Tottenham Court Road Elizabeth Line entrance. Also, I like how you picked up on the mushy peas being the "healthy part" of the meal. It helps balance out the fried-ness of the other two for me, if that makes sense....
The curry sauce probably tasted very familiar to him as traditional British curry (similar in taste to most chip shop curry) was how the dish became introduced to Japan (brought from India as a Royal Navy sailors dish). So, while the two branches went in seperate directions they share a common (and surprisingly recent) culinary genealogy. Okay, I'll stop nerding now.
Did you try jellied eels?? Also, trying surstromming would be interesting to see, as well as rollmop herrings. The rollmops are actually quite tasty btw, im not so sure about the other 2, but seeing someone japenese try those would be good seeing as seafood is japans most famous food obsession.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of mushy peas either XD Glad you really liked the fish and chips! Fish and curry sauce is brilliant, love it 😁 Need to try that ice cream doughnut, it looks amazing :O Ah, Greggs, proper British food 🤣 (it's kind of a meme, Greggs aren't the only suppliers of this stuff, although they are probably the most consistent) Sushi is pretty accessible these days in the UK (although good quality is maybe a bit harder to find outside London - I can imagine they make more effort in London since most of the wealth is there, and the Japanese embassy is also there)
What is Brazilian soul? Do you think that outside Brazil everyone is closed and introverted? I'm Brazilian and I don't dance in the street. What soul do I have? The Brazilian is nothing special as you think.. Every human being reacts to the environment according to the emotions he has
Fish & chips, the most British thing ever. The only thing missing was afternoon tea…fun stuff, a non-Japanese restaurant called Chottomate and another specializing in a typically Japanese dish called Samba…😂 ah, the subtle British humor 😎 Very cool. See ya George 👋
It's called Kaffeeklatsch in Germany, but it's mainly with coffee and cake - instead of tea. Maybe in Ostfriesland it's with tea... They have a great tradition with black tea.
When I lived in London I found the fish and chips a bit disappointing, perhaps they have improved. However, the fish and chips in the North, Yorkshire in particular were really nice especially if you were eating them at the seaside. I always think it is a bit of shame that visitors just go to London as there are so many places outside of London which have amazing fresh locally grown produce which isn't as expensive.
Glad you got a good one. You can probably trace a historical line between Uk chip sauce curry, and japanese curry . Fish in batter dipped in curry sauce is quite similar in concept japanese chicken katsu with curry. Fish and chips looks v good, but peas looked like fresh peas. thats not right. Add ketchup to your palette of sauces. Also i find Hot English brekfast tea works well with fish and chips as a palette cleanser. 😁😁
The curry sauce differs by region and city in sheffield it's yellow, milder and sweeter with currants usually in it (I've tried it allover the UK and this is the best tasting one to me lol) and Ireland have their own version too, the best fish and chips in the UK for me as a whole dish is found in whitby :)
All around the country most of us anyway, love chip shop curry sauce. It is definitely most like Japanese curry sauce, it's not like Indian curry, and it's slightly different to Chinese curry. Some chip shop curry sauces are more like Chinese curry sauce, but the best ones are more like Japanese curry. Stuff with potatoes is a very English, German, and Russian thing, probably because potatoes are high-carb fast-release energy food, that keeps you warm on a bitter winter's day, with either gravy, or chip shop/Japanese curry sauce. And the tea should be proper English tea, so steeped for a good amount of time so it's dark, then milk and sugar, that warms you up very well on a bitter winter's day.
Still watching your videos from the Moroccan vlogs I really enjoy your videos I feel like I visiting the world among your vlogs keep entertaining us😂❤❤
The Japanese know fish, and Cod is one of the best, common in our waters. The Japanese have so much in common with the UK, they are a Island nation with a affinity for the sea.
Hobson's is great but their mushy peas are weird. I don't think they make them with proper Marrowfats, which means they're not starchy enough, they taste more like garden peas and they're a little 'bitty' as the skins don't break down properly. I don't know why they can't just do proper mushy peas.
I'm writing this as im watching you had chip shop curry sauce by the looks of it they normally have this or chinese curry sauce also mushy peas are not my favourite either battered cod is nice haha ......sausage roll is okay should of tried a yum yum icing pastry dough really nice
Trying English Fish & Chips for the 1st time from Greggs, is like ordering Sushi from a Japanese McDonalds. You just don't do it. The are endless decent fish & chip shops or even restaurants other than trying Gregg's for quality.
It’s not very often that you see a sushi restaurant outside of Japan with an authentic Japanese-style jungle setting. 12:51 Is the wasabi fake (i.e., horseradish) as it invariably is in the US (and can you tell the difference)? Not knowing Japanese 😳, I kept on wondering about _Itadakimasu_ (as in 3:45)-it seemed a little weird to say “Let’s eat” when starting any dish, especially when the other people are already eating. It turns out it means something like “receive [humbly]” which shows both reverence for the food and gratitude for the people involved in its production. There’s a mindful appreciation about it-that’s _way_ nicer than “Let’s eat.”
You do realise 'Japanese curry' recipe actually came from the British right? The Japanese took it from the British Navy who were training the Japanese at the time in the 1800's
@@GeorgeJapan Yeah, that's why you use flat plates and spoons and forks to eat curry also, compared to other traditional Japanese dishes which are always on small plates or bowls. Curry restaurants were built next to Japanese Navy bases for the sailors who loved the British curry and it then spread across Japan as all the locals grew to love it. Think it was around 1880's or so
English curry is very similar to Japanese because that's the origin of Japanese curry. Japanese person went to England and recreated the recipe their version. 😊
The FIRST THING YOU NEED to do is drench everything in salt and vinegar ESPECIALLY the mushy peas, squeeze lemon over the fish then dig in, LUSH! REMEMBER THE VINEGAR
@@GeorgeJapan please dont judge British food on London offerings. We have some wonderful things I challenge you to discover the universe of British cheese!!
Would have been better off going to the coast for fish and chips, that looked like a posh fish and chip shop lol. Can't beat the fish on the coast, it's much fresher and you get far more chips, in the less posh chippies
I always know when some food or sight really excites you. You slip out of your super political correctness (Oh My GOSH) and use stronger words. Lol Enjoying your tour George and watch for your daily videos.
If trying why smother it in condiment oh you're reviewing the sauce . Although that said chip shop curry sauce is really good. Hope you get to try pie n mash and liquer
In a little over 3 minutes, I immediately realized that there must be "personal rules" about how to eat, just like "fried chicken" in Japan... ; ̄w ̄)(It's a dish that causes disputes over sauces and toppings. If you suddenly sprinkle lemon or vinegar on the fried food served at a drinking party... the table will become a conflict zone lol
I see he's been told to have curry source with it that is not a traditional habit you're not getting the flavour from a nice piece of cod ok for a change I suppose.
