Why We Don't Teach Readings (yet!) As mentioned in the introduction video to this series ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RKWrWRFyfYo.html ), it is my philosophy that it is a WASTE OF TIME to learn the readings for each kanji in isolation. I explain WHY in that video. To learn how to read kanji, I think it is best to learn WORDS that contain that kanji in the context of SENTENCES. We WILL be doing that in this series, after learning the meanings and writings for the 118 kanji in the JLPT N5 and Kanken 10 tests. So fear not! You WILL be learning how to read them in the near future. 😊

The eye looks like to me as a bookshelf , and so in hungarian eye is "szem" and "szemtelen" could technically mean eyeless, but it rather mean shameless and bookshelf is könyvespolc, and so behold my 目 "3 szemtelen könyvespolc" and it's 3 cus it has 3 shelves which would mean "3 shameless bookshelf".

An educated man usually knows 20.000 words of his native language. How is it possible to know all these words in kanji? How the Japanese, Chinese etc. learn them?

I find Foot hard to remember(especially how the last two strokes are written). Then i realized Mouth is an O, the next two strokes (that start Stop) make an F, and the final two strokes are a fallen over T. FOOT. The square head on top makes it look like a robot. A Foot Bot with a large foot on the bottom, because it's a Foot Bot.

Probably to N3, and then will switch things up. But we’ll be covering words for all of these before we move to N4.

Hi, what are the resources you used to make in this video? Is there a pdf with all the radicals and details? Which resource do you use for the historical evolution of kanji?
@ToKiniAndy
@ToKiniAndy 10 месяцев назад
I mostly use Japanese kanji dictionaries and websites like kanjitisiki.com/busyu/ and ja.wiktionary.org/ to research. Sorry, I usually include the links in the video itself, but forgot them on the history sections. With that said, I've created this order, and part choices and stories and everything on my own, based on my wife and my research.

Hey, will this series help with compound words and other aspects of our Japanese journey? Not just kanji? I am fine with learning kanji since I need to but I was wondering if you will help with other stuff.

I love these videos but can you PLEASE put the on yomi and kunyomi readings in the video please. I hate reading and knowing the meaning but not the pronunciation. Or not being able to look up the actual kanji. Thanks.
@ToKiniAndy
@ToKiniAndy 10 месяцев назад
Absolutely not. We'll be covering words a bit later on for all the kanji we've learned which will teach you how to read them. Not including on and kun when learning writing and meaning is intentional, and I won't be backing down. That means that some people will need to use something else if they don't want to wait for the series to finish (or don't want the deck off our site), but I'm sticking by my kanji learning philosophy. Sorry!
