Your choice of words in English is perfectly good, and grammar is perfectly correct. I think Japanese culture has been very popular around the world because of original and elegant beauty, and more so nowadays because it is a real living tradition and not just a reconstruction or a re-enactment. In Poland, where I was raised, I was always told that Japan is a culture to look up to. A more advanced civilisation, because of how much have you achieved in terms of science and technology, how advanced reliable is any machine you make and how modern and well looked after your cities are. I asked my English friends about it, and they said the same. Also, the worldwide popularity of the Katana and Samurai, and the living tradition of arts such as Iaido, Kendo and Kenjutsu is what I think has helped Europeans to rediscover their historical swordsmanship, since only sports fencing had been practiced for decades, but now with HEMA we are rediscovering our own heritage. It is especially true for my country, where because of difficult history, our own swordsmanship went extinct already back in XIXth century, and after the war our blacksmiths were not allowed to make swords anymore, so the tradition and art of making good sabres died. However later on, some of our people who now make best sabres, or practice Historical European swordsmanship, actually started from trying to make replicas of Katana or practicing Kendo, and that helped them to rediscover and return to their own national tradition, that is to making sabres and learning how to use them in traditional way. That is something with have to thank Japan for. I am concerned however, that Japanese people still work so much. You have already achieved prosperity and advancement. Many people think that many issues Japanese society has, comes from the fact that you work so much, you simply don't have time to get on with your lives as individuals. We would like Japanese culture to flourish for centuries to come, and we believe it would help it if Japanese people had more time to enjoy their lives outside from work.

I feel this music needs to be played in a forest, or by the river...somewhere in nature to complete it. It's like those heart lockets split in the middle...one half is the soul of the music we are listening to, the other have is the soul of sounds from the nature. Together they are complete and whole.

I’m lucky to have lived in such an amazing and beautiful country as Japan for the first 3 years of my military service. If I had a few words to describe them… Extremely humble and caring people. Obviously not all military is welcomed- especially in Okinawa and some other smaller places, (because of the many awful fucking cases that the military is involved with, much of it being Marines related) but I’m glad that- being in the navy, I got to hear this music as I passed a tea shop, and I decided on a whim to step inside. The overall feel of this shop was homely, yet somber, like a home you hadn’t been to or seen in years, but as you sat and drank your tea/coffee/ whatever, and ate your sashimi- you felt a sense of comfort.

I majored in biomedical engineering as an undergraduate and minored in East Asian and Buddhist art history. I ended up going to graduate school for my masters in biomedical engineering and technology and I have a wonderful job currently working in the biomedical industry field. I always think back though from time to time and recall so many wonderful things that I learned from my asian art history classes. The culture and art was so beautiful and I absolutely loved the history behind it all. I honestly fell in love with it, it grew so much on me, and it seems to be so to this day. I often find myself researching early woodblock prints and hanging scrolls and learning new things about them and the artists that brought them to life. I almost considered switching majors back then. What would I be doing now? I would be throughout China and Japan, learning their art, language, and culture. I’ll make it there someday to see everything firsthand instead of just in textbooks. It’s crazy though that I loved my minor more than my actual major, and I did so much better with my minor than major.

I wish that the Japanese were more accepting of non Japanese. Lafcadio Hern lived in Japan for many years, he was Creole and so as such appreciated Japan. He wrote many things about the culture, he was never quite accepted. He wrote all those ghost stories that were made into a film. I love the music of Noh drama and the shrine music. It's related to the culture of China of the 900s by feeling, oh the Tang. It's not derivative but in line with it. I'd love to see Sotoba Kamachi,"Kamachi At The Stupa " a ghost or demon play maybe. I have had an curious fascination with Japan and Japanese culture since I was little. It is profound and hard to convey. It's just that as I grew up I felt that so much of what made me, ME, was mirrored and paralleled by what I saw heard and felt in Japanese culture. Like my heart and soul long to be reconnected to this long lost aspect of my self. So much so that when my sister passed away a decade ago I decided that since life is so temporary, and you never know when it is your last day, I needed to live, and to live FULLY, and NOW. The only thing I could think to do, was to make SURE I visit Japan. However life never works out the way you expect, and I never ended up going. I still long to visit someday. My dad had travelled the world for some two years in his youth (in the 1980s) and a part of his journey was spent in Japan. He always told me how much he enjoyed his time there and it’s one of the few countries he wanted to visit again (though he never did). Most Japanese he met and spent some time with back then was because of his interest in the traditional music, he still has a few photos of when they had invited him to a tea ceremony and played some music afterwards, despite barely being able to talk to each other due to very limited English skills on both sides (we’re European). Music (and art in general) has this wonderful ability to connect people beyond language. I’m glad i got to grow up in a very musical family who taught me (mainly thanks to my dad’s experiences from visiting nations before mass tourism) to not only appreciate classical but also foreign traditional music from a very young age. Japanese arts and culture have always been among the ones i cherish the most.

@juno6602
@juno6602 18 часов назад
@@andieallison6792 Very true. The scars of the war run deep across Asia, particularly in China and South Korea. In the former case, it's being channeled by the CCCP as part of the national myth. It's more or less become their Great Patriotic War, but combined with a layer of ethnic animosity that was much less pronounced in the Soviet narrative (both countries were subject to similar crimes and atrocities, but the CCCP is much more ethnically nationalist in its orientation than was the USSR). As for the Koreans, it goes deeper. Any people subject to a half century of imperialism and cultural genocide aren't going to forgive easily. And, like the Japanese themselves, Koreans are an intensely proud and nationalistic people whose culture results in a particular proneness to experiencing searing national trauma. I get why they hate the Japanese, and obviously acknowledge just how inexcusable Japan's wartime conduct was. But, as an American, my worldview can only give these concerns so much weight. What I see presently is an Asia that's the CCCP's playground. By militarily neutering Japan, the Anglo-American leadership basically created a reality in which no regional force would be able to check Chinese expansionism. Currently, India is holding its own in South Asia, but the rest of the region is more or less free for China to do as it pleases, with no adversary on its side of the Pacific capable of countering its ambitions. The only feasible means of countering CCCP imperialism I see involves a re-armed and rising Japan. Yes, the Japanese themselves seem hesitant to take on this responsibility, but I feel that they'll eventually realize it to be a necessary precondition for their own defense. Certainly, the US is becoming too burdened to carry the overwhelming majority of that weight alone; let's be honest, we're a superpower, but one that is vastly over-extended. As for the Koreans, though they'll loathe to admit it, history will force them to the realization that, in virtually every substantive factor, their interests are identical to the Japanese (and Taiwanese, but that's another conversation.) At the end of the day, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" is an iron law of international relations. It brought Churchill and Stalin together, it's currently bringing the Israelis and a variety of Sunni monarchies together (even despite the war), and , mark my words, it will absolutely bring the Japanese and the South Koreans together, in spite of it all.

This music is so beautiful and unique, so very different from the western music I'm used to hear. I mean, classical music is wonderful but hearing Japanese classical music is like traveling to another world with to many different contrast and new sounds.

Japan has always been such a uniquely fascinating place that I think was passed on mainly from my dad. This has also kind of spiked an interest in their car culture since I had no clue about anything mildly related to Japanese cars at all.
@Typhoon0627

If you do buy one of their cars, for the love of christ don't put one of those idiotic loud coffee can exhausts on it that make it sound like a broken leaf blower. That shit went out 2 decades ago and I still have to laugh at the dbag kid down the street who farts around the neighborhood in his 100hp shitbox with a wing and racing seats like he's trying revive the Fast n Furious era he missed out on. Those were dark times and they're behind us, let's leave them there. Save your money and get an EVO, a WRX, or a Skyline/GTR and then leave the exhaust alone, they sound good stock. No need to make $35k+ car sound like a $2k POS. Cool? Ok, good talk.
