Extremely clever design to prevent mistakes. 😊

whats overengineered? very clever solution that should be implemented in every multimeter. hioki, you are the king
@ClassyJohn

except that the mechanical switch would wear out and could easily gum up, making it impossible to connect the probes in different configurations. You know whats the best design? DOING NOTHING.

@@ClassyJohn you severely underestimate the Japanese and their design expertise.

That is not overengineered, it's great (and clever)

Very useful and clever feature !

I would definitely appreciate it. By forgetting to change the leads, is how all my first meters died, and how I almost killed and have blown the fuses of my current ones. I have the good practice to always reset the leads to voltage reading after using the meter, but accidents still happen.

I have one of these. German Gossen Metrawatt meters do the same thing, I think a few other Japanese brands do it too.

That's not overengineering. That multi-meter will last you an eternity, and It will prevent those embarrassing "oopsies" moments.

Look at 20 years old European multi meters. They used it back then 😮

Me too. I like it. There will come a day that you measure voltage with your connectors on current and blow a fuse. With this it will not happen.

Mr. Denki, please be noted that remaining three testing modes are for ampere for which you need to remove only red probe and insert in ampere test socket. Black probe is common.

Somehow you can still connect it to mains while probes are on the position for current measure ... Right?
@TylrVncnt
@TylrVncnt Месяц назад
Of course you could connect it to whatever your heart desires..! The feature showed here definitely does help the user become more aware of how they’re using the tool. To prevent misuse, always think about what you’re trying to measure and why, then set up the probes and meter accordingly. Never had any accidents with this methodology

Definitely not overengineered - it´s just engineered to human operators who naturally and unintentionally sometimes do things wrong.

So over engineered. If you dont know wich hole to use, you shouldn't be allowed to operate it😂
