Philippines is a very friendly and open country. For the most part, it is a safe but like all other countries, there are sketchy places that should be avoided. I would do some research or ask your Filipino friends which places are safe or not. Also venturing out alone in the middle of the night is not a good idea. So be careful. When you visit the Philippines, do keep in mind that despite the friendly people, it is still a third world country so some people can get desperate. Please always practice caution. And always be careful.

No place is absolutely safe. You always need to be vigilant and aware of what's happening around you. Never put yourself in a vulnerable position and everything will be fine. 🙂

Fumiya is correct when he says Philippines is not safe at night. I was born and raised in PH. Each family are advice not to go utside when its late night to avoid risk. It is not safe when its late night. Pick pockets also are rampant in places like Quiapo Manila, Divisoria Manila and other crowded places like trains or in public transport. So you really need to be careful to be safe. That even us Filipinos is kinda victim of such harsh things. But true that most of us are kind people and sari sari store is soooo real. ☺

There are bad people anywhere. So just be cautious with your things when walking in the streets. Crimes can happen anywhere, anytime but it doesn't happen all the time. --it can happen. Still, there are good people. :) Sad that many people in the Philippines suffer from poverty but what you see in the news and videos that are bad in PH are true. Of course there are also great things in the Philippines. One must travel 🧳 ✈️ to know and experience. It is different for everyone. 😊

Security guards are everywhere.. but it doesn't mean that it's dangerous.. they are just there to ensure the security of each establishment or the customer.. sometimes they also serve as receptionist cause you can ask them some where to questions..

from the many reaction videos i've seen, that's how most foreigners feel upon seeing for the first time the so many security guards scattered around. they'd feel anxious

Foreigner just don’t want just to go to Philippines because in Mindanao there’s always war on sulu. Foreigners sometimes get kidnapped for ransom only in sulu so from foreigners afraid to go to Philippines because of the war and kidnap thing. But aside of that anywhere you go in Philippines is safe even your out at night.

Fumiya is right. There are places that is not safe at night. Just be careful and always ask the locals what place to avoid if you are a foreigner here in Philippines.

More guards the better 😇 True enough. we feel more comfortable because if something happen, we will have someone near to help us. Maybe because we don't have hotline for emergency response (and sometime late response), so having someone near is reassuring.

Security guards in any establishments in the Philippines is a common thing because safety in the Philippines is the main concern. Whatever safe the country there's always a bad people who want to do bad things when there's an opportunity that's why business owners think safety is protecting the people and the businesses in the Philippines.

As much as I would love to agree with Mana's point of view, it's not really the case. I've been pickpocketed several times in front of SM malls or crowded places and have been held at knifepoint just a few months ago in broad daylight. The challenge she did works because it was inside a safe place inside the mall. If she would do that in other crowded places, I don't think she would have the same results. But I still agree that one needs to be mindful and careful when going outside.

Yes, it's true, we can let others borrow money, as long as they pay it back, so if they haven't paid for it even after many days, we just stopped letting people borrow.

Most of the time, I am also scared/intimidated by security guards, but you can always approach them to ask something, and they can even be your friends. I'm friends with the guards at our school, and they even greet me "Good morning" sometimes 😆😆

As an 11 yr old. I can agree that I’d get anxious whenever I see guards I used to cry when seeing one before but since I always see them I got used to it I even have guard friends! Sadly they must’ve forgot me since the pandemic we haven’t see each other for a while...

I am a filipino so i think it depends to the place where you go😊 if you are a foreigner some filipino wont attack you because maybe they dont know how to speak english HAHAHAHA mostly they attack Filipino than the foreigner😊 this is base in my opinion. Some Filipino guys wont attack the foreigners but they like criticising/joking you like saying "hey jaw" when you walking in the street or what ever it is, maybe because they dont know how to speak english. In the Philippines there is a curfew you can't go out when it's 10pm-4am. I think in Fumiya's case its his fault if he experienced that kind of situation. I don't know in other places in the Philippines but here in Mindanao that rule is implemented if you go out during that time if you will be caught by the police or the barangay security it's either you will pay or do community service ( unless if you have a reason of going out) Reminder Being a foreigner is not an advantage in the Philippines everything is treated fairly

Security Guards are mostly at entrance and exit to check each luggage of there are stuffs that are dangerous. They sometimes patrol to help people especially if there are lost children or stuffs.

Dangers in our country: dont display your mobile phone, gold watch, gold necklaces, gold earings, expensive rings or any expensive items in publics bcoz picpocket people or snatcher are everywhere. Always put your bags in front of u to avoid those people. Dont walk alone on a street especially in dark areas, or where u see a lot of strangers drinking on the streets bcoz u never know the danger u might have (holdapper who will robbed u with a gun or a knife behind your waist and steal your items u have: money, phones and sometimes they will kill u). Beware of scammers on phone or in person. Always be alert and observe even when u make new friends coz u are a foreigner anyone can make an opportunity of your innocence. Always remember in every good situation there is a bad situation.I am not scaring but this the reality on our country but not all people are bad u just need an awareness so that u can take care of yourself. It is your advantage if u know self defense on guns and knife. Or always bring an item that can protect u when u are in danger.
