I really enjoyed the wordplay in this song/music video. Yoasobi is so creative and talented. I hope they make more English versions of their other songs and I hope you’ll react to them as well :)

I never even knew there was an English version of this song until I saw this video. Thank you so much!!! Not only do I love this song for how it sounds, but the topic is very important to me and something I've had to deal with in my family more than once. A lot of my friends love hearing it, and they'll often ask me what it's about or what the lyrics mean. This gives an opportunity to talk about a topic that's otherwise difficult to bring up but needs to be discussed nonetheless. Thanks again ❤‍🩹

"If you don't like it just pass" I love that attitude, idk why so few people have it

That attitude used to be the most common one for so long until the past 15 years or so.

The concept of soramimi is very interesting. Maybe I should listen to songs in other languages so see if they apply this as well. Neat video.

I guess this soramimi concept can be applied to other languages. It must be exciting if you find some!

I love how this lovely lady just said "If you don't like it, just pass" ... like, YEAH! How hard is it to do that right? People should learn to just pass on things they don't like instead of talking bad and starting comment wars. Props to you Fumi-san! ♥

What would you say then? What phrase do you think is better?

Very interesting. I could hear both languages at different times but I wasn't sure if it was the song or if it was hearing you say the Japanese. I will certainly listen to it again on my own. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah I also heard some Japanese words that aren't listed in the video like the part where she says "Want to leave it behind",I can hear the word "Wasurete". Sad things that this song is about suicide but I still love it though. 💙 Also,here's the song with both version combined. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5yiP_rtzU78.html

I think I know what are you talking about and it's interesting to know that Japanese has specific word for this. sometimes when I hear some conversations or songs I can hear words that actually wasn't pronounced but sounds kind of similar to something meanful to me. it's impressive when people use something like this intentionaly.

Great video! I was expecting someone to make a video like this. Also, I don't know if you or anyone else did, but I think I heard いつだって in 2:51, where the english lyric says "It's stucks in...". The japanese lyric is also いつだって Edit: Also in around 4:12, it really sounds like ほら to me (the part when the english lyric is "... Hold up")

Instead of 明けない or まけない, I hear わかんない。 Maybe it is because they sing "what can 'night'..." I hear that わ sound :) Really enjoy this video, and it's great to have different kinds of videos, both with songs and reactions, the short clips of how to pronounce single words, and the more "lesson" like videos. It's a great mix :)

I have to admit thar the English lyrics for this song are a little strange. They might be grammatically correct, but they don't really represent the way we speak..
@SpeakJapaneseNaturally
@SpeakJapaneseNaturally 3 года назад
I see. Thank you for the information! I guess they prioritized the sound rather than the natural way of constructing English for the sake of people who love the Japanese version...

it's word salad but its a tasty word salad. if you ignore grammar and so forth, you can tell it's the same story more or less.

So the story is about a girl who tries to commit suicide and the boy sees her and instantly falls in love with her and stops her she says she has the thanatos illness that makes them see the grim reaper so the boy helps her not commit suicide one day she tries to commit suicide but she waits for him to come then when he comes and stops her from committing suicide they both fall off and the boy dies except that the girl does not die turns out he had the thanatos illness and that the girl was his grim reaper the end that is the sad story about "Into the night" hope you can be happy and not care about the lyrics I may have not told it right but I forgot some of it so please don't hate me

If you really want to be fluent in Japanese, I recommend you to learn how to read hiragana and katakana first, otherwise your pronunciation will always be affected by how you read the alphabet in your native tongue
