Thrift stores, gardening, and cats--this is a pretty accurate representation of about 90% of our lives. I'm in the middle of a new DIY project for our cats, but I am also being summoned to our garden with excellent weather so next video may end up being more plants! Thanks to Sakuraco for sponsoring us! team.sakura.co/racheljunadventures-SC2303 and celebrate Japan's Sakura season! Thank you for the video. I'm just happy that Poki is so resilient.😊 Your garden looks so beautiful. 😍 The DVD/fridge-combo would have been a great birthday present for my brother as kids. He allways liked the "cool and expensive" stuff, you could show off.😩 My only "project" right now, is learning. So there is only so much I can do, to speed things up.😭
I recently saw something where a little boy had a play cooking set, and it made me happy as not even that long ago, toys for boys to play cooking didn't exist. Unfortunately, it took the rise of male chefs to show that cooking can be something boys/men can do, but at least we're making progress 😅
@@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley It always was male chefs in the kitchen, it's actually a very sexist working environment. The cliché only works for the obedient housewife, money-making was left to the "superior gender"
@Beware the Lily of the Valley historically speaking, most chefs have always been male... it's a male dominated career. Ironic that women were supposed to cook and clean in the home but chefs were male.
17:15 oh my god i just noticed the official vet documents refer to pets with the 'chan' honorific?? They list him as Poki-chan, thats so cute 😭 💕 Hope he has a quick recovery!
jun talking about how badly he wanted a dollhouse as a kid broke my heart. love your inner child jun you should get one and decorate it! you could get so fancy with it and furnish the inside with custom wallpaper and flooring with how talented you guys are!
Oh my gosh same!! Please get Jun a dollhouse or make a really cool custom one!! I can only imagine how beautiful it would turn out if Jun made a custom dollhouse, and what a fun project
For real! stuff like that is so fun you don't have to be a kid to do it. I still have dolls and im old lol although i wish he got to do it as a kid. kids should play with what makes them happy.
It's better handwriting than when I'm trying to write pretty kanji. Also, I'm pretty sure doctors here just drop their pens onto charts and tell us that it's supposed to mean something.
@@yangzhang5870 There's actually been a couple studies that examine US doctors' handwriting development and fun fact! Our culture of saying "doctor handwriting sucks" over here actually encourages medical students to let their penmanship degrade intentionally! We literally encourage doctors to keep writing terribly because everyone has the stereotype about it so medical students change their behavior to fit the stereotype to be considered "good"/"standard" doctors.
I thought it seemed like a brilliant idea for tiny studio apartment setups where you might not have space for both a traditional entertainment center and a mini fridge, or house share where the only space that's fully Yours is a single room with the same layout issues and also your food and drinks have proven to be at risk of disappearing from the communal fridge. Markets itself, really!
considering how popular fridges with TVs were for a while around 7 years ago or so, it makes so much sense, especially for people who have little space. It could be the beer/soda fridge to use when friends come over to watch movies?
I was worried when poki was squeaking but I'm so relieved he was back to yelling at the end! Also Japanese thrift stores look SO MUCH COOLER than American ones!!
That's the secret with rose bushes: you're led to believe they're super fancy and high-maintenence, but they have that cockroach instinct that makes them live through anything. The most maintenance they need is being pruned so they don't spread out of control.
Seriously they are so hardy they'll survive when all your other plants die. They come back from being frost bitten and from extreme heat too and even if you yourself fuck up they can even take being cut way too short to a certain extent. My mom has a small rental garden she got from an elderly couple before her and there are some rose bushes on that plot of land that are at least 40+ years old and before my mom took over nobody knew how to properly care for them and they are still thriving.
Rachel excitedly calling out for Jun when she finds something cool is so cute! "WEAPON STAND!" I can see Jun making/refurbishing doll houses. I would watch that for hours. I had littlest pet shop as a child and I was so gutted when we had to sell it all. I miss the simplicity of childhood and imagination. Poor Poki, hope he gets well soon, his soft flower cone must be way more comfy and also soooo adorable
omg jun liking the dollhouses was so relatable. my family bought me the dollhouses but in reality i really wanted toys like the dinosaurs, cars, and transformers PLS
7:32 was an experience for me, I went from “a mini fridge with a DVD player IN THE DOOR! Why do I need this?!?” to “... that’s Bad Boy playing in the background. I recognized the song that quickly? 😅” within the same second.
Dear Jun and Rachel, I know this is silly and I know you probably won't read this, but I really hope you can appreciate Poki being super loud because I also had a very loud cat as well. When she passed it was very silent. I miss the meows.
It's not too late for the Sylvanian doll house, Jun! I just bought mine with other buildings, furniture & families of Calico Critters animals last year at age 71! They're addicting once you start. 😊
It would be so cool to try and make a replicate dollhouse of your own house! And furnish it with the mini versions of your furniture or even use it to test out different furniture/decorations!
The thing you said "there not flowers it's some sort of succulent thing" it's called "Rose Moss" it's a ground covering succulent that comes in many colors. It's my favorite succulent.
I LOVE just looking through flea markets, thrift stores, and antique stores. It's always fun to hunt for little treasures. Glassware and furniture items are some of my personal favorites. Edit: Wow! Your garden is looking amazing! It's so pretty. Hopefully we get to see more as everything grows.
6:30 I believe that doll house is from a line of toys called calico critters, The model is called "red roof country home", I had one of them when I was a child and loved it! The matching animal figures that go with it are really cute as well, they're fuzzy animals with cute vintage/cottage core style clothing. I recognized the house right away lol, sadly mine is gone now.
Jun was right with setting the Abacus. I teach blind and visually impaired students here in the US. and we use a slightly modified abacus that was based on the design of the Japanese abacus. It’s used the same way. So yes, Jun can do anything *if you’re curious why specifically blind and visually impaired students use an abacus where is most other students here don’t, it’s because abstract concept like multiplication and division with large numbers are harder to learn without having something to touch 3:30
jun wanting sylvanian families sets as a kid is so relatable for me 😭😭 even now i think about getting them from time to time now that im an adult the garden is shaping up so well! really excited to see it once its all grown out
Thrift stores are amazing. The older I get, the more my treasure hunting just turns on and i love finding weird, old shit that for some reason noone wants anymore.
As a young woman, in my 30's, I didn't want anyone elses "junk". I worked so I could get new things...During a town craft fair I went into an antique shop and OMG, "I had that", "my Mom had that", "I remember that".....my childhood was on sale in an antique shop! I now love going to Estate sales, antique shops and Flea Markets. Not yard or garage sales, mostly young mothers selling their kids outgrown clothes and toys, but Estate Sales especially are related to me and my generation now.
Thrifting in Japan looks so fun! I had "bamboo is not a type of wood" drummed into me at young age, lol. That same parent also made me learn how to use an abacus, too! It was one of those old school redwood ones. I love how Rachel's prototypes make wonderful nesting areas for the cats!
Thrift shops are so fun! Your garden is going to be so gorgeous and peaceful!! I absolutely adore how Poki shouts to let you know he's on the wheel and then once you're watching he takes a few steps and is ready for his treat 😂
I love 2nd hand shopping. My dad and stepmother used to live in a really ritzy neighborhood and they would have an annual community garage sale over a weekend every summer. Man, let me tell you I got designer bags and all kinds of fun goodies that I couldn't ordinarily afford retail lmao 😆
Aww for Poki! That was certainly a big bump!! He's definitely sounding better, but was so cute when he had that hoarse "Mrow!" The dreaded cone of shame! The flower one looks MUCH better (and cuter, too!)! It's always been fun to see the DIY! Can't wait to see how the next one looks!
T.T Listening to Jun talk about only getting "girls" toys is so relatable :( I'm so glad you're both able to live and express yourselves however you like, "girl stuff" and "boy stuff" can go stuff it!
Ya, and sad that now he would be labeled as gay or Trans because he liked "girl stuff". Who cares what toys a kid wants, just let them play and have fun as kids.
Yeah the problem with that is that most boys do want boy toys and most girls want girl toys. If you got me a girls toy as a kid I would have been pissed. It happened to me a few times and I hated it. Some people are different, but to apply that to everyone is a mistake.
@@GrimmDelightsDice You should look into the guy who helped people turn away from the KKK by becoming their friend instead of just insulting them and telling them how evil they are. Educate instead of demonizing. It could go a long way to helping people understanding Trans people. Just a friendly word of advice, otherwise you are just further stoking the flame of hatred
Two things I just love, not, including the cats, of course. I’ve always loved how much Jun loves Rachel. I mean in casual conversation not many men keep calling their wife, their wife, after years into the marriage. And I love how happy Rachel is; I’ve never heard her giggle like this. It’s an adorable, sweet, sweet, giggle and you can tell she’s just deeply happy. 💕
Yes! And I love how he often notices her beautiful hair color and any objects that remind him of it, like that orange mask. You can tell how much he still loves her after all these years, and she loves him just as much.
It would be amazing to see mini-house decoration! I love those sorts of things. Lately I've been seeing a lot of videos of someone building miniture little houses for their cats and it is so fun!
Oh Poki you poor baby! I'm sure he's feeling much better now. It's so hard to see our babies uncomfortable, but your kitties are lucky to have you two.😽💞🌺
I love Jun talking about when he was little he wanted to play with doll houses because that's how I grew up. But fortunately my mom was supportive of me and got me that stuff.
Wow the vet! So much cheaper than America, we had a 1cm-isn mass removed from ourcat's foot a few years ago and that was not nearly as complicated and it was nearly $2K. Poki is so lucky you found him! The garden looks great!
My cat had a tumor removed from his chin and needed to wear a cone as well. For the whole time, he just lived in the bed because he was too scared to move because of the cone. Happy to see that Poki could handle it well!
Rachel in the sponsored segment you look like the personification of spring, so pretty! Those colors really suits you! I'm very happy to see all the cats happy and healthy, good boy poki is really a trooper!
Man, browsing thrift stores is always a lot of fun - who knows what you'll come across! 😂 (Also Jun picking up the abacus and telling his abacus course story... Heheh me too, Jun! 😂😺)
There will be times where I'll rewatch videos until a new video catches my eye and this channel is a gold mine as this whole week I been essentially watching the entire channel! It's great, I love it, I love this channel, I love both Rachel's and Jun's personality on screen, the cats b-roll is my favorite, the music choices in the background is also my favorite. If this was a show this would be a 10/10 slice of life Thank you very much
Something I love about Rachel and Jun is that it’s nothing crazy just a normal couple showing us clips of there life, ever since I was little they have stayed there cute quiet life with there cats❤
Miniature design and decorating can be really fun! Seeing how both of you are into DIY, it would be cool to see what kinds of details you would add to a little dollhouse or miniature garden. Maybe a future project?
Hello Rachel and Jun I think that tall wooden rack is a FISHING POLE STORAGE Rack. Some people who fish frequently actually have several fishing rods that they use on different days to catch different types of fish.
That coffee set looks so cool!! I'm not even a coffee person but it's something i definitely want in my house and serve guests with. Also Jun wanting a Sylvanian Families dollhouse is super relatable lmao.
I bought a house about a month ago and I have gotten so much into the adventuring thrift stores, making DIY projects and currently waiting what kind of garden appears from below the snow. Rachel and Jun are my role models
In Australia that yellow flowering tree is called wattle! You should do a tea making video with it like you did your cordial plums! You're going to get soooo many birds and insects in your garden because of it yay!
poor pokis little meow awww :( is he just more susceptible to developing masses and cysts or is it just bad luck? either way im glad theyre doing well and i hope poki can stay mass free from now on!!!!
