" Rakdos Intolerance " made me choke on my water.

Its a cool card mechanically, but god damn did they nail the flavor on this one. Giving your opponent the Monarch and then needing to waiting a turn for Jared to "grow up" to be able to take it, what a simple yet wonderful way to capture his story.

The true power of Court of Ire is that you can target jared with it, thus giving him seven +1/+1 counters.

Finally. FINALLY! My entire Commander career I've been wanting a Carthalion to lead my army. Ever since the ice age comics I've loved the Carthalion family, and wanted more than just flavor text.

Me: "Hey check out my badass new commander, he stole a black lotus to summon a shivan dragon..." My playgroup: "Yeah, we don't care, also counterspell your commander"

Dude, Naya is my favorite color combination and monarch is definitely one of best multiplayer mechanic. I'm thrilled to build around this dude

"Elder Millennial Highlander", I feel attacked. I will still build this deck because VORTHOS!!! Even if I can't put all the story staples in the deck and it isn't really effective...

Professor I just wanna say you and your team have really stepped up your video quality game. They've always been good, but as a (former) professional video editor myself I really appreciate the small details. Good use of movement, smooth transitions, all that jazz. Excellent scripts and narration that flow seamlessly and track well with memorable bite-size moments that all come together. Just nice job, that's all.

If no one at WOTC will say then I will. Thanks for all these great preview videos prof! I appreciate the extra effort put into jazzing up what could be a very straightforward video.

I like the idea of including a lot of "fight target creature" cards like Ancient Animus or Ulvenwald Tracker. It works great as creature removal and getting Jared bigger with more counters as well.

Prof can I recomend a video on "How to start Learning MTG lore in 15 min" ? or something? I really like the oldschool lore but I never know where to start I just go down the wiki rabbit wizard hole. Maybe recommend books or good starting points divided in eras? something like that?....Thanks! Also the the brand Blackfire wich is a UP competitor in the EU at least and seems quite nice and has a plethora of products hasnt showed up on your reviews yet , so I leave the sugestion here aswell. Great video overall!

If I didn't already have a monarch deck in the form of Queen Marchesa, I would definitely want to build this deck! It's awesome that we've got so many more monarch cards now! I love the mechanic!

I can't wait to build a Kenrith monarch deck, I'm sure it will be good but I really just want it to be super flavorful with all kinds of nobles and cards that reference royalty in some way.

Oh man! I have a bunch of my brothers' old magic comics in my dresser drawer . I always wondered who Jared Carthalion was, this is so exciting!

Court of Ire trigger the 7 damage, target your own Jared while being the Monarch if there's a player with no blockers and all of a sudden you're swinging in for 10 cmdr damage. Storms Wrath is a good one too, boardwipe anything with toughness of 4 or lower and pump your Jared with +4/+4. Very cool Commander.

there is a new card from the set that also grants monach on etb. it's a 8/8 for 5GG that says "when Dawnglade Regent enters the battlefield, you become the monarch. As long as you are the monarch, permanents you control have hexproof"

So far, I’m liking a lot of what I’m seeing for Commander Legends. I’ve already thought of two decks I can make with the new commanders and am brewing combos and support bases for them so I can put these decks together after the set comes out.

My buddies are making monarch decks and after seeing this vid I really wanna make this deck, thanks professor!

These are the laughs I needed this morning. Thanks Prof. Don't forget Soltari Guerillas. Shadow helps. Yeah, it's weird and there is better stuff, but I love some of those old RW cards. As for Jared, it's okay. It's a Naya card with a very Naya ability at the bottom, but the top ability really makes the cards stand out. However, while Jared is flexible with what it does, I often feel that Naya could be more than it is. Him being able to also somehow redirect damage would have been and interesting add on. How that works on this I don't know, but I miss that from the old Boros cards when they also used battle magic (ie Thundersong Trumpeter, Razia Boros Archangel) and were less "hit that thing, harder this time". The monarch take is also interesting and flavorful. The color lend themselves to the same old stompy however, which is why I mentioned the Guerillas. I think for this however the Goad thing in particular is spot on, and will lead to many successes with the deck. This is less the subtle cloak and dagger kind of politics and more the feudal lands kind.

I've been wanting a good naya commander that is also a bit of a build around. Also I loved the format you chose to show these cards.

Can't say I ever would have expected a subtle Strongbad reference in a TCC video, but here we are.

I built a deck all around +1/+1 counters with him as my commander. If you add Shalai and Hallar, Ancient Bronze Dragon, as well as Court of Ire, you have a few ways of doing damage as well as adding additional counters. I got to use this combo recently and it was incredibly satisfying to attack with my Bronze Dragon, roll a D20 (rolled a 14) and finished an oponet for 28 points of damage instantly.

I recommend Ashling the Pilgrim to build Jared up with counters.

I've read most of the old MTG books, but never heard of Jared as he was a comic character. There's always more lore to read up on.

This is a complete shoe-in for my Marisi deck. Come to think of it, all of the applicable Monarch stuff is good in Marisi . . . Hang on a minute . . .

Cards like Hushbringer and Torpor Orb can stop the ETB and allow you to keep the monarch if you already have it or go for it on the same turn.

I would like to see a discussion about Monarch. When to and not to include, why, synergies, ect.
