I'm not big fan of traditional punk, so I liked this performance over other competitors. Excellent and perfect, as always!!! Ville Valo meets Jack Sparrow via heavy metal, not forgetting the attitude :) Gloomy angst with a twinkle in the eye!!!
Exactly that was my point. The competitors had to sing punk, but he sung grunge instead of punk. That's why I liked this performance more than other competitors performances.
Yea, punk! :) Actually the band name "Nirvana" was taken from the Buddhist concept, which Cobain described as "freedom from pain, suffering and the external world," a concept that he aligned with the punk rock ethos and ideology. And with song "Smells Like Teen Spirit," Nirvana entered the mainstream, popularizing a subgenre of alternative rock, and since they had been discussing anarchism, punk rock, and similar topics, Cobain interpreted the slogan as having a revolutionary meaning... :)
