Yeah, top tier rn has what I call an Ace Combat meta, because to me it feels like Ace Combat if everyone was on the same level as whatever mute protagonist is running around singlehandedly winning wars in this universe. Anything with a good turn rate and a solid airframe has a good chance at doing well, especially with those 6 smokeless death sticks of doom

There's that, and while it doesn't have the best thrust to weigh ratio it's really aerodynamic with a low drag permitting a high speed, it's *not* stealth and the cannards can definitely have quite a signature in some situations, but being small and being built with a low signature in mind also helps it get closer. Also, the low flying that Bo was doing is actually surprisingly common for the Swedish air force. Instead of promoting people to another location people there works for far longer and in the same location, getting *really* familiar with both the local terrain and the plane, and they're expected to work independently, without being given detailed orders from the ground... Leads to *excellent* pilots that can make the best of the local terrain, but also makes it harder to replace pilots in the case of losses (say due to sickness etc)

IDK, I think the French Rafale looks better, but which is all around the better platform I'm not sure. If we count Rafale's carrier capability as advantage then I'd guess it..?

Well, you sort of do, your country owns one, and the state belongs to the citizenry. And while you don't make purchasing decisions yourself you *do* have voting rights. Of course ads about military purchasing decisions has less impact in countries without proportional representation then in countries with it, but even so you *do* have a impact. (I assume that you're in a country like Canada or something?)
