Tommy Searle is a true legend of the game. He's the third most winning rider in UK MXGP history and has finished second in the World Championship twice, won multiple British Championships and did a stint in the US for factory KTM. We both moved to the US around the same time but haven't had a chance to catch up in person since, so this was a really great chat! I was always pretty lucky with suspension. My dad was a n mxgp mechanic for Max Ansties dad Mervyn,so he knew what he was doing, and I was also pretty in tune with how my suspension felt,and was able to communicate what it was doing and what I wanted from it. That coupled with my dad being able to watch what the bike was doing while I was on track,and knowing what to do to sort it meant my bike setup was always EXACTLY how It needed to be. Even the smallest change in setup can make a massive difference to a riders lap times

As a desert guy I’ve had many suspension issues. After I got an a kit valved right I’ve gained so much more speed and confidence it’s been life changing. I feel with motocross you can get away with a setting that’s not valved right. The desert has so many more variables and if you don’t like it in all parts of the stroke try another revalve! I’ve been thru three in this a kit and it’s perfect.

Skill level and determination respective. Man and Machine - working in tandem and each calibrated to match each other. Man vs Machine - one is performing diffrerent than the other or in other words outside the zone. We have all experienced how the 'zone' feels.

Going from air to spring makes a world of difference on the Austrian bikes. With the stock WP air you really have no feeling of when the front end is going to go from under you. You also are constantly chasing the balance of hold up and top stroke plushness. Went to cone valves and the confidence went up 10x.

I've learned so much since I've stopped racing after high-school. And my biggest issue to going faster was exactly that. I was afraid of the bike doing somthing I didn't expect. All of my big crashes happened completely out of the blue.

Rode a 1999 cr250 since I was 13 love the bike, honestly didn't know any different. Last year bought a 2021 crf450rx and holy hell! Never felt so comfortable on a bike in my life.

Back when I was 12-13 years old we got the suspension done on my YZ125. Had to be recalled and resprung for my 120 pound self and I shit you not I was 10 seconds a lap faster with the new suspension

The problem is that every suspension shop has a different philosophy of what good suspension should be. I have been struggling for 2 years with set up on a set of WP pro components tuned by a big WP authorized suspension shop. I switched to a Yamaha this year with revalved KYB stuff and it’s an unbelievable difference.

Back in the day I raced a 1997 cr250. Stiff, poor handling, jarring. Factory connection suspension delivered to the track. Bolted it up, went out to practice, set sag, won the overall. Bumps that scared me before disappeared with the new stuff. Best money spent.

Even road bikes it makes so much difference if you get it setup for your weight, so much safer for 1. To many just get a bike on and off road and ride it as the get it.

The front end of my bike washed out badly in Feb 2015. Since then I've really held back. I think the forks may have been too stiff and hit a clump of baffle grass coming out of a rutted turn.

Is the K-Tech considered in the same league as MX Tech for motocross specific riding? Lots of press on the MX Tech but not much on the K-Tech.
