L O what she said is somewhat true in some cases though but the wording could have been better but white women who have mixed kids tend to not know how to do their hair and their kids hair and that lends up to them straightening it so much it’s crazy the amount of heat damaged mixed girls I’ve seen it’s so sad :( but this could be the same for black women who have mixed kids as well!

I got black friends included altought sadly they are faaar away as it`s online friends and i can only text them mostly or skype on calls. My sister is from Palestine as she is from fostercare home unlike me who`s adopted and from the Philippines. I just have minor curls mainly thick but wavy hair. It can make some small curls at certain part of my hair the longer it gets. My sister in the otherhand have more curlier hair and it gets more poofier and tangled compared my wavy thick hair texture. As my norwegian parents also divorced and mostly none of my other norwegian relatives. Even my father nobody knows how to handle thick curly hair like sisters hair or my asian thick hair. So as a sister what i had to do. Was to turn into more information about curlier hairstyle, hairproducts specialized for thicker yet stubborn curly hair like my sisters. My sister used to hate her curly hair, always wanted it more straight like her norwegian friends, which of course do not have the thickness nor the curliness as she does. I hated to see that, so what i did. I continued study into different products, which one worked better in her hair. Now she started to wear her natural hair more then ever. I also changed her hair decorations like when she going to tie her hair. She use the thicker types then the thin ones that snap right away. As she often before would get more tangled endhair before. Also i gave her as a present a wider tooth comb.

Wilmis The very reason she got offended was your delivery and how you expressed yourself. So, “miss,” maybe before you comment something so condescending and rude like “Think again,” you might think about how your negativity is going to affect others. Must be sad being such a negative soul that you have to create such commotion over such a meaningful and beautiful comment. I for one agree with Random Girl as African culture truly is magnificent and beautiful in every way. I am a young white male who was able to come to this realization before even you, which is certainly concerning. You kept the argument going if you really analyze everything in this thread. You’re one of those sad people who thrive off of negativity and drama and that “miss” is no way to live. Reflect on your state of mind and way of thinking and you’ll realize just how childish and ignorant you sound. And yes, your comment was racist, as you replied “think again” to a comment speaking on African culture being beautiful. I do not know your ethnicity, but no matter what it is, that is racism and that is truly disgusting. Reply if you wish so that you may continue to thrive off of your addiction to negativity, but just know that Random Girl and I will feel the same love and respect for Africans as we did before your unnecessary bullshit. xoxo, PEACE and LOVE to all my Africans our there and to all of my fellow human beings of ALL races and ethnicities, because 🖕🏿🖕🏾🖕🏽🖕🏼🖕🏻🖕 racism! 💗💗

@emmaj8726
@emmaj8726 5 лет назад
Spongebob It’s not just a hairstyle. It’s cultural heritage. Like the stylist said: Historically, the way black people wore their hair told a personal story. It signified status in the same way as for example a specific kind of car does now. Moreso - and something the stylist didn’t say (at least not in this video. Idk if they cut it out) - one of the first things white enslavers did before crossing the Atlantic was to cut off the hair of the black slaves. Essentially taking away what had symbolized their personality and status (they also made sure to separate people from the same tribes, rendering the slaves basically unable to communicate with eachother, but that’s another story). So when black people nowadays decide to embrace these hairstyles it’s essentially reclaiming what white people tried to take away from them. That’s why it’s not just a hairstyle. It bears cultural significance. And it’s important to acknowledge that even if you can’t relate.
@DaytonaHills

Zu Sh actually, "race" doesn't exist, we are ALL one species of human and we ALL originated from Africa. The first Europeans, Americans, Asians etc were all "black" before their features changed to adapt to the climates. Also homo sapiens are a mix of many human species that's why we have so much beautiful diversity ! Africa isn't the whole world but the whole world is Africa.

This makes me wanna cry, My daughter's hair is basically the same hair texture but about 8 inches longer. All through Elementary School and Middle School I would put pretty braids, hair accessories all of the time. But I don't know what happened to her since she entered High School. It almost seems that her self-esteem has dropped drastically. Every time I want to do her hair like this girl in the video or similar. My daughter always says that she does not want her hair to get a lot of attention. She also states that she does not want other girls to feel bad about their own hair. My daughter is afraid to embrace her own natural beauty. Because she is afraid of offending other girls or she is afraid that other girls will feel bad about themselves. This is so sad. I am very glad that this young lady is embracing herself in this video.

You should just try and surprise her one day by teaching her the background of her hair and surprising her with a trip to the hair salon. try and remind her, that feeling bad and not bringing attention to yourself will not make others feel better about themselves, instead to make others feel better about themselves you need to be confident enough to love yourself

I understand what your daughter might be feeling. I never wear my hair down or do elaborate styles because I don't want to draw attention. I have thick hair so wearing it down ensures people see it. I didn't want to keep people behind me from seeing what we were being taught. I didn't want my hair to be a problem for others looking back. It's a long process I'm still struggling with this myself but she needs to accept her hair really. There's a whole youtube community you could introduce her to. Take her to a curl specialist so she could see how good her hair can look. It's little things that add up and can help.
