It is scenes like this that make me proud to be part of the Marine Family.....23 years I was able to see my Marines grow, be men, fathers, grandfathers, sing, cry, laugh, and be Marines and I wouldn't change one minute of it.
This Sargent borrow the uniform? You spent 23 yrs in the Marines how many hash marks were on your uniform? Look at his sleeves one hash mark on each sleeve. When I was in you got one for every four years and one for each tour oversea, correct me if I am wrong. Discharged yes but retired NO
He isn't even a Sargent, those are Corporal stripes (E-4). That is a rank you could make in a normal 4 year enlistment. He could be retired due to a medical discharge if wounded during a war. If he is retired he would be authorized to wear his uniform for the quinceanera but not if he is just a veteran. Veteran's can only wear their uniform for specific listed activities (Veterans Day parades, weddings, and a few other things you could look up). But really who is going to stop him and who really cares because "once a Marine always a Marine".
As a proud Marine Corps daughter, this video brought tears to my eyes. I miss my father everyday, and he had the same type of love for me that this Marine does for his daughter!
Someday, many many years from now, when her father has passed away, she'll watch this video, and it will mean the world to her!! And Dad's got some moves on the dance floor! Awesome!!

I have never served in the military, but I can say with all honesty watching your dad makes me proud that he is defending our country. He is a bad ass marine and one hell of a dancer. I hope you treasure him because he is definitely one of a kind.

For him as a Marine...this may have been the most difficult thing he's ever done (giving his daughter away and learning all those different dance moves). It's a quinceanera (latin culture equivalent of a sweet sixteen) not a wedding boss...I don't think that dad wants his 15 year old daughter pregnant any time soon....with all the proto-fascist anti-immigrant hysteria in the US, this vid is a good lesson.
