We used to have the speedway at our fairgrounds. Such a great time, the smell, sounds, and dirt formed a great impression on a young child. Really lived the newzeland sidcars too.
It’s one of the hardest types of racing & almost strictly a young man’s game, we used to drink cases then rip it up all weekend, now I can do one & my old ass is laid up & hobbling around for a week & a wipeout is unthinkable, probably $hit my spleen
@@billfoster213 Did a bit of speedway myself in SA. Was 35 when I started. WE WERE NEVER ON THIS LEVEL. KNOW EXACTLY THE REQUIREMENTS. These guys are on Moto Gp level.
I remember seeing a race like that,, the vibration from the single cylinder would shake your heart,,and the noise from the engine and exhaust would shake your head off,, makes your ears ring for a week 😂
Oh man when I was a kid my late father would take me to watch the weekend warriors race flat track at Possum Cove(Seriously 😂 ) in SW Louisiana. This short brought back memories that mean more to me than I could ever express in a comment section. Thanks for posting.
sounds a little familiar if I remember right it was every Thursday night or Wednesday night this is 1970 71-72 Costa Mesa when I see these things it reminds me when I was a young boy, I remember a rider named Bass, or Miller I think,
I saw speedway in England on a Saturday night. It was absolutly fabulous. They compete with other cities of counties like a league . Teams travel and next time race at the home track. Great competition!
@@thomasschwab1727flat. The most obvious difference can be found on the bikes themselves. Speedway bikes famously run with no brakes, whereas flat trackers have the luxury of a rear anchor which explains the disparities in cornering
We had a Speedway right behind our High School during the 60's and 70's, a quarter mile banked dirt oval which was later asphalt, with a bike track in the centre.
Couldn’t say for certain but Warsaw is typically wider and slightly longer than other tracks on our calendar. Helps that these boys are the top of the top and riding 500cc bikes though 💪
I'm lucky I live within 2 miles of a flat track. And another one just reopened about 10 miles away. They are fun to watch live. I like the east coast vs west coast championships. Awesome.
When I was young, I used to go to these races. It's called speedway, and my dad personally knew one of the riders' dads, his name was Mr. Woods, his son's name is Rick Woods a world champion speedway racer, Their bikes have no brakes, One of the engines they use is a jawa, Its a lot of fun watching them, Very exciting!
Jawa is a Cheskoslovakia built engine. We had a track in Miskolc Hungary in communist times. Many Jawas 500cc 4 velves . We had international races the Poles, the Checks, Austrians would come race the Hungarian teams. So much fun.
❤❤❤❤😂😂😂 and they used to have flat track racing up there in Auburn California and I loved going how entertaining it was a smell of gas people going fast wow brings back great memories😅
Love speedway. Got to ride one in the early 70's. I was riding 125 & 250 class on 1/4 mile dirt ovals. Got to take a few laps and it was a beast. 2 speed tranny...fast and holy shit. The longer back straight was 😳😵💫
