Jason Fisher, senior research scientist for Alberta Innovates - Technology Futures, gives a presentation on moose and predator numerical responses. Since non-deer species have been captured on their infrared cameras within their 3 000 km2 study area, he explains it presented an opportunity to review these images to try to understand “the responses of other mammals in the north east boreal forest to anthropogenic and natural land cover”. He discusses the results of the research to date, and the next steps going forward, including producing new analyses based on fully updated species data, and producing single-species models for moose, bears, wolves, and other species using two related but conceptually different metrics.
